my comment was alogn the lines of: in general, top quality people do not get made redundant as organisations will always accomodate top performers. thats not to say it doesnt happen because it clearly it does. IIRC offence was also taken at a (true and valid) comment I made sayign lots of companies do sweeps of redundancies to get rid of the crap before replacing them almost immediately, albeit with a minor re-org to get roudn rules
