there not as bad as everyone thinks , some go on to 90K before rebuild it all depends on how there treated,
a recon engine from a rotary specialist is 1600 quid with everything needed.

106 GTi would be faster to 60/100/Quarter Mile and round the bends!
The SRi is a nice car but it's not really that fast... They weigh more than the pug, and develop 125 BHP... early pug GTis make 120 Bhp and late pug GTis make 130 bhp.
I think if the corsa was modded it would be a different story, but likewise the same can be said about the pug.
Corsa SRi is 111 Bhp Ton compare to the GTis 128 Bhp Ton.
THe only thing I will say is that they are close enough to come down to the driver in a race.

wrong mate... earlier ones were more likely to have a higher power output.... later ones were sorted out because the cat was built into the manifold... me and steve have early ones... his made 134bhp standard... I dont know about mine, but seems quicker today, than others ive driven standard with leather etc... like an 02' plate one when I was about to buy one new (thank god I did'nt)

Its something I've never admitted but I actually arranged finance on a bright yellow 106GTi when they first came out. I stopped in the end because it was a little too much money and I got the RST instead.
Confession over.

I wouldn't have paid all of it though as it was an options thing? I would have given the car back after 3 years.

I have a GTi by the way! Hehe...
It's a 98 R Reg, Diablo Red... It's the phase 1 as well I think?
It has got leather and no side strips which would indicate Phase2 but it doesn't have the digital odomoter or white dials?

decat -
they are not really phase 1 or 2's... they just had little tweaks along the way... mines one of the earlier ones.
No leather or digital odometer and has side strips

Mmmmmmmmm Confuzzling innit? Well mines boggo at the mo, and I am going to get it on a RR before I get the pugsport decat and filter on so I can see how much money I have wasted afterwards

ok number of issues to address here really
richy darling, i was in your car that night and you really werent pulling away at all on str8s, you did however rape him on the bends
secondly, a corsa 1.8 16v was timed by evo to do 0-100 in 23.8, evo also timed the pug 106 gti to do the same sprint in 22.6 secs so
an finally, it was never actually prooven that the pug 106 gti ever left the factory with 130bhp. the exhaust systems on the 106 gti and saxo vts differ slightly (vts doesnt have cat on mainfold - newer gti's do) and it was when these changes were brought about (roughly 99/V reg) that citroen were rumoured to be producing 130bhp versions as a result of a sneaky exhaust tweak, this was soon discovered as a result of something to do with emissions and was rectified.

I was a bit cheesed that night... removing that heap of an alloy seemed to have lightened things up, but I now look like a sky bus

stripped rear... new clutch and basically sorted that filter out... it wasnt really getting enuff cold air what it was... I think its quicker now... maybe my imagination... I did all 3 at the same time tho, so I dont know what impact each one had... I need to find an RR desperately
