if u bought a std gtir, ud have to start spending straight away, for a start the gearboxes are useless and cant take any decent power, clutches as said burn out quicker than a candle, and the brakes are just meant to be dangerous, then theres the running cost of them, i cant imagine an evo6 will be cheap to run, but combing 2lt turbo with throttle bodies doesnt help the wallet when fueling a gtir

my mate has had one for 4years now! b4 thay started getting popular!
its imiculate and he has spent a packet on it, engine re-build etc! still got a standard turbo on it tho!(thats the next job) with a standard turbo he is running 350bhp safely! its easily the fastest car 0-60 i have been in! permenant smile on ur face when he boots it:-)
reliabilliy wise i think thay are fine if u leave then un modified but one u start uping the boost ect, cluuch and gearbox will go and the brakes are crap as standard!!!!!! not a style car really i dont think just for speed!
love them! iaz

Standard for standard is below (GSR spec TME has titanium turbo so should be slightly quicker)
(0-60) 4.4 (0-100) 11.2 (1/4) 13.3 @ 108mph
Interesting figures quoted there - bit quicker than Mitsubushi quote or in fact anyone has ever timed
Standard GSR is quoted at 5.1 to 60 (mitsubushi official figures) & if you can hit that 1/4 time in a standard car then hmmmm
Even a VI RS with a close ratio gearbox & weighing in at 1235kgs Vs the 1365kgs of a GSR cant get a 4.4 anywhere
Joe average will be lucky to break 5 seconds to 60 - and thats if you sidestep the clutch @ 6000rpm...
Then of course you have the chocolate rear diff which will want to spread itself all over the road in spectacular fashion when you launch it like that...
AYC is for pansies anyway
& as for the comments about the ND Evo - well if it held together long enough in the first place I would be impressed! The block is good for 800bhp, pushing more like he does is a recepie for disaster (as he is finding out)
Pulsars? - absolute crap at the end of the day, the transmission cant even cope with the standard power, the engine is terrible & whoever employed the monkey who put the intercooler ON TOP of the engine needs shooting. Try driving a Pulsar hard & see how long it lasts - as I found out in my mates car on the way to Le Mans last year when the crank decided to 'exit stage left' out the side of the block along with the rods & pistons @ approximately 155mph....
Its quite interesting feeling the underside of the car being peppered with various engine parts

I think GTI-R's are fast for standard motor, but its let dwn by the gearbox and brakes which can be changed.
Nik - Slow? Try the link below! Evo in a bit of trouble!

Errrr, Evo's how new?
Now thinmk how old the GTi-R design is and think about how advanced it was. It is an amazingly fast little motor as standar. WEak points are the clutch and brakes. Clutch is pretty much an engin out job which is pricey.
Spend a bit of dosh with zorst, filt, FMIC, 4 pot brakes, uprated clutch etc and see 250bhp odd, high 13's 1/4 miles. PLus 4wd, great handling, but its not fast.
