Seen this a bit late, everything has already been said!
I like subtle cars, or cars that are done well, I don't think mental show cars add anything good to the 'modding scene' as little neds try to re-create things they see in maxy poo and never pull it off and every time I see a 'neded' up car it pisses me off
I like the way more people are getting interested in modding but I don't like the direction as robbo says
But it's all down to taste

Jet however (upon further inspection) as done all the above but has managed to craft something different and that is (as you pointed out) an attractive car, still not a practical car but it does actually look decent.

Yeah I agree with this BUT the fitting and attention to detail regarding the fitting etc is exceptional (IMO)
Companies/bodyshops etc that deal with modifications etc have to keep "ahead of the game" so to speak because at the end of the day its their livelihood isn't it? So if that means getting more and more outrageous then so be it. And also, it's the people with the cars that are buying the mods/having the work done to their cars etc as a result of more outrageous things being introduced- so they can too "stay ahead of the modifying game".
BUT IMHO it's the classic mods that will last FAR longer than silly trends such as mahooosive alloys, flip paints/two tone and jap crap .
My tuppence for ya!

Some excellent points. Heavily modified doesn't always mean stupid, and the comparison between Jets coupe and Project Slam substantiates this.

I've got 18's on the car I first stuck a 2litre in, and it didn't do the power output justice tbh.

Mmmm, I have been tempted to sell up and get these cum-tastic 17's.... I could probably get more than I paid for my 18's if I were to sell... Will have to see...

If everyone on CS was asked to paint a picture, you might get half a dozen pieces that could be considered works of art.
The same goes for their cars - most are piles of rolling turd, the select few actually look ok.
Is car styling as subjective as what we traditionally know as art?
Art in the traditional sense typically requires some talent to even be motivated enough to produce it, whereas car styling can (and is) be carried out by trained monkeys.
For every Pinifarina and Bertone, there's a thousand PSG's and Ultimate Velocities.
