... it all depends on each application and anyway - performance figures are all a waste of time.

Not much better than an XE. 0-60 wont be as good as a redtop.
whatever
Errr come on then sherlock, tell me how then?
0-60 will be slower, V6 engines are not meant for bottom end, then are a cc engine based for motorway miles. Once they get up to speed it'll pass a redtop, but a redtop corsa will do 135-140, a V6 will hardly do much more than that.
Beside, Beardy assumes a V6 is a redtop
Take your boyracer comments and go back to the carpark fool.
As usual another fukin know it all comment from the car guru, give it fukin up eh.

I was wondering what the fuck daimo b was actually on about ?
v6 redtop ? whut ?
I still maintain the V6 cav was like loads quicker than the 2.0 gsi.
Maybe i'm just getting old.

From 50-100 a V6 would rape a redtop.
From 0-60 a retop would rape a V6.
So dont roll your eyes at me young man. Go back to cheating gas
Who fucking died and made you god -
I think maybe your are forgetting beardy will be running 100bhp of "cheating gas" me thinks this just might have a smaller effect on his 0-60 so take your smart arse comments somewhere else.......wanker!!

In all honesty I cant see 100bhp of nos helping much 0-60, i imagin using it in first would be a waste of time, and probably in second, and dont they have really long gears?
Controler?
Over a 1/4 it would make much more of a difference.
Getting a lsd Beardy?
The proof will be in the pudding

i am running 150bhp of NOS and a Controller will be set up for 2nd to kick up, as for traction i do not with it will be that bad as for the weight of the engine and the Massive 18x8 wheels on cut slicks
i am not getting a LSD atm no
i am getting Triple webber 40 carbs (pick them up soon of a kid on Ebay), and also on the hunt for 3lt cams (should be good for 250bhp when all set up and done)
i had a go race with my m8 in the cav V6 and he was corsa 2lt 16v, we wa side by side until i hit mid 2nd and i pulled away.
but as people say proof will be in the pud
Cav V6 has better times over Cav 2lt 16v, Astra GTE and GSI
who cares will be fun no matter what
and sound ace, with carbs on
pop! pop! pop!

Plez Explain?
Why is a C20XE classed as a Red top? is it the only engine Vauxhall made with a Red section on the top? err.....no
if someone says a 2lt 16v it can eather be the Ecotec or the redtop
as with the 2.5 V6 it can be the ecotec or a redtop V6
also say the same with XE why? is the 2lt 16v the only engine with XE on the end.......
so Gaymo plez for your facts out before thinking you know it all
Redtop 2.5 V6
Ecotec 2.5 V6
and yes my car will be up the stip somtime this year

A mate of mine has a Cortina Savage replica 3.0 with a shed load of mods, its a MK2 though, puts out 235 bho from the Essex lump and has run 14.9 on slicks, but its a road car, and runs a slush box so that figure is pretty good, love the old 'tinas.

not being pedantic just a general question?
p.s i raced beardy when he had the 2.0 and to be honest there wasnt anything in it
I've had a crack at a Vectra V6. From 40-70 i was comfortably ahead. After this the V6 started gaining.
I'd beat it up to my top speed

as for the orginal question
0-60 7ish
0-100 18ish
1/4 mile high 14's to low 15s
depending on engine and car and driver. obviously those with a motorsport backround will be quick

It will be quicker than that for sure Vibro.
It has to be good for a 14.0 quarter, 13.8 0-100 which would mean 0-60 in about 6.
The slicks will help a lot, think its a bit silly to go to all this trouble and not to get a diff, with the amount of torque you be running, even more so when on gas, it will be a monster to control, and you wont be able to use the slicks on the road!

Take your boyracer comments and go back to the carpark fool.
Even the very lowest spec V6 produces 20% more torque and significantly more power than the red top. Do the maths Daimo and don't be so fcuking arrogant

I have a soft spot for SD1s
oh yeh baby!
i used to race them in banger racing, 3 of them and used the same engine in the 3 of them actually. body is as soft a sh&t and the handling was terrible when i drove them on the road but with a few alterrations to the suspension(cortina shocks) they handle like a gokart.
i think when i'm about 40 i might try and find one of these a vanden plas or a vitesesse and make it into a pimp mobile
