I could have a CTR if I really wanted one, infact I could have any of the cars that have been mentioned in this thread.
But I choose to own and build my all time favourite car with my favourite Vauxhall engine and not have to pay a monthly sum for a car I don't even like.

fair play but my point is that ur slaggin CTR's and saxo's for being common cars that are associated with neds etc
but at the same time, no matter what youre motives, you own a car that could be tarred with that same brush

Unless you have £20,000 your not going to get a car that is'nt classed as a "ned" car
That applys to new cars not second hand.

give anything 10 years and it will be pikey. I'll be 32, my mrs will have lots of pikey kids, be fat, sit on the sofa all day smoking and necking ice cream. Fuck I'll have a beer belly and my best mate will be called leroy.

ctr's are not shit.....I get the same thing about buying a cooper s....
Just cos you dont rate it doesnt mean its shit.
I went for loads of testdrives in the ctr---and i would have bought one if it wasnt for the fact that i can get 15% on coopers.....I was impressed by the testdrive---the handling was adaquate and power was ample....although they do need to be reved a bit too much for my liking.
Dont understand people saying its a poor car because its too common, or because of the type of people who drive it....look at the majority of people who drive corsas and novas---neds.
Having said that id still rather have my mates old shape integra type r...feckin gorgeus and an lsd

They only have a low torque compared to the power of the engine..
I think you'll find that they have a high torque figure for a 2.0 NA engine
People jump on the 'low torque' bandwagon far too much.. my guess is they have never driven one.. Whats wrong with having to rev them? they can take it!!
Standard CTR's have made sub 15's at the pod
I bet all of you with your corsas would have a set of cams if they were given to you.. you wouldnt complain at 'having to rev the nuts off it'

Its not as easy as just saying, right, lets drop it to 3k rpm and have more power..
The VTEC changover point is where the standard cams make less power than the VTEC cam..
You can probably lower it 200-300 rpm, because there is usually a small dip in power just before VTEC engagement..
If you drop it too much you will make LESS power on the high cam than the low cam..
What your mods are will effect when is the best time for VTEC engagement, basically you do a run on low cam, and one on high, where the two graphs cross (where both cams are making the same power) is the best point for VTEC.
On my Prelude for example, standard was 5100, I dropped it to 4700, as thats where the high cams started making more power than the low cam.
Smooths the VTEC 'kick' thou

Okay, for a NA 2.0l engine, they dont have low torque.
VTEC offers a lot of power, but also provides good fuel economy when driven normally, so I cant see how that can be a bad thing, especially if you look at the costs of a turbo'd engine with regards maintanence and fuel consumption.
Some people are too wank to drive them properly, and so slate them, but thats a fault of the driver, nothing else.
What hot hatch at this price new gives comparitive performance figures? not many I can think of, so off the line, 0-60 etc is very good for its price etc.
And that idiot with the Nova that apparently can afford any car of anyone on here, lol, yeah, okay, like you'd drive a Nova if you could afford something decent, oh please, just how much of a loser would you need to be to do that?
I recon you're sprouting cr4p, and are just trying to justify your dislike of a car you've never driven by pretending you could afford one but dont want one, we're not fooled, as if your DSS would stretch to anything decent
CTR is a good value hatch, cant see a prob with its performance or handling, and for the same moeny new, its difficult to come up with any real argument as to what lets it down.
