Stu_22 is dead right. £10 to charity of his choice.

The EGR sits just to the left of the TB on the inlet side of the engine, the port for this is located in the side of no4 just before the exhaust manifold and flows round the side of the head to the valve.
The piping entering the manifold is there to pump fresh air in to the exhaust, warming up the CAT and diluting the emissions on start up (hair dryer noise).
You can remove the secondary air pump and accossiated piping without any fault codes, but you cannot remove the EGR without ecu fault codes being thrown up.

A teardrop shaped bit of alloy is fine to block of the port on exhaust manifold.

So would my EGR valve be connected up on my engine?

From the EGR where does it go to?

When i fitted my Mantzel power box to my C16XE, it came supplied with a lower inlet manifold from a X16XE, this is to make it fit better. Because my car is a Non-ecotec with no EGR stuff i was left with a couple of ports in the inlet manifold, so was supplied with a blanking plate and gasket to cover this. Think courtney might be able to supply you with the plate if ya ask them!!???

But my EGR will still be attached though and won't need blanking off won't it.

Why would I want to blank it off if its all working fine and is all wired in?

The only thing I am missing is the secondary air pump and I will just get a bit of metal put over it to blank it off.

Because its one of the engines weak spots. It will go soon and its a bugger to change so you may as well blank it.

I have a spare air pump valve if you need it

I don't want to take it off if it still works fine, if it goes I have just purchased a spare one that I did'nt need in the first place

Secondary air pump can be blanked off with just a bit of metal, don't have a CAT so it serves no purpose.

Nothing it seems, apart from save you money if it breaks as your not using it.

Yes, but until that time I cannot be arsed with the hassle, plus I now have a spare one in my house which I don't need

£70 quid down the drain.

If you blank it when it breaks the engine management light will still come on.

Its not going to f*ck up and will give a slight increase in power as there is no more exhaust gases going through the engine
