and i've driven them too, owned a sport and looked after a Z tec S and my brother owns a saxo which i drive all the time.
So thats whats i am basing my opinion on.

As I said in my first post you will get some bias on this board...many will claim there not being bias but they deep down will show some eligence to Vauxhall etc..

zetec-s is slower than my gsi... and that aint exactly quick
there pants... simple!
i lost count how many lil kiddies in there zetec-s's try it with me from the lights or just on motorway & no matter how hard they try they can't keep up...
and cybermonkey is right with the figures for the corsa too.. X16XE is 106BHP, C16XE is 109BHP...

the 1.25 zetec has some serious power.... my mate has 1 and a 1.6 206 and vtr find it hard to lose them....

u have to also compare gearbox ratio's, the power delivery not just power
if it is power, why is it 2.0 16v corsa with 155bhp can keep with civic type r with 197 upto about 120mph, no i can in my valver

Well IMo its not bias on my part...I've driven both a sport and Z tec S and also driven another rival (saxo) on a regular basis and I think thats a sound basis to form an opinion. Plus the fact i am buying a ford in the next few months
I spend a lot of time on other ford forums such as Passionford and they dont really rate them either?
I've also seen these cars all go up the strip and they also fail misserably compared to the rivals on this front. So why argue?
I'm not saying they are shit cars...just saying they dont live up to the hype as the Pug 106 GTi dont either IMO

i also raced on in the lupo that was levle, and before ppl, start having a go about how can a 3 pot lupo TDI be a quick as a hot hatch im sure anyone thats driven it (fad, tony) will vouch for it

My argument is not about them living up to any hype...I have already said there a warm hatch at most...my argument is that people who say they have destroyed on in a 1.4 is a joke

Who has a zetec-s on here?? Can we prove this once and for all...get a 1.4 up against it...

As has been stated loads of times...the Zetec-S is NOT a hot hatch...more a warm hatch...a hot hatch would be the pug 106 GTI

pug 106 isnt a proper hot hatch IMO either
hot hatches were astra GTE 16v and pug 206 gti 1.9

do a search on here and you'll see the 0-60 etc for a Z tec S and a 1.4 sport are more or less the same. When i had my std 1.4 16v there was nothing between a Z tec S and my sport NOTHING IN IT. Not saying the 1.4 sport is quicker or slower
And as ppl destryoing them in their 1.4 JR did have a 136 BHP stripped out 1.4
And as for corsa rose tinted glasses dont make me laugh what is the love with Z tec S's?
I just think they are not as good as ford intended them to be. simple

Yes but them days are gone...so going on currents standards and cars...the pug 106 GTI could be classed as a current hot hatch...whether its not as good as the older hot hatches is irrelevant...
