Yep, don't go too lairy with it or it will need too much maintainence. Most kits with cams are good for 200bhp.

With the gold kit you would be looking at about 180bhp. No drawbacks really, they are good throttle bodys. The main factor when tuning the engine is the cams. You need slightly higher lift and longer duration to make get the most out of the TB's...

Rod bolts, some slightly more lairy cams and pocketed pistons... That should see you to around 200bhp. If you were happy with the 180bhp then just get the rod bolts...

The SBD TB's are Tapered and the Alpha ones are paralell. I have no idea whats better, but I think each have thier benefits. The Alpha kit comes with a base map already installed, so you can fit the kit to the engine and run it for a bit, then same up some money for some more bits and a re-map. I'm not sure how the ECU comes in an SBD kit, though I think it has a base map...

Yea, you see more SBD equipped cars, so I am guessing that is because it's the better kit. I think the main reason it costs more is because it really does have every little bit you need...

Ians got a 2.0 for sale for £250 I think. There is also a guy on Mig who has a 2.0 in pieces not doing anything. Offer him about £100-200 to take it off his hands. It's kind of convenient that it's in pieces too...

Go for it, sounds like you are going to be spending a few ££ getting the engine sweet - just make sure the engine isn't burning oil as you want the block to be in decent condition.

aye will be looking around, might even exchange for a reconed block as mate can get it cheaper as he works for vuaxhall apprently so gonna see bout that as well, but rebuild still seems cheaper

Oh, you need to add oil pump to you re-build list... There are so many parts you can replace, the more you do, the better the engine will be

SBD are the sole uk seller of a manifold for fitting jenvey TBs to an X16XE, noone else can sell them
you cant even buy them from jenvey
which may be why SBD seem to be the brand to go for for most people on here
SBD are really helpful too, i ordered my cambelt and rollers and got them the next day

Go for a re-conned engine then. It will cost less than a re-build!

parallel bodies are similar to weber DCOE carbs to lok at, Tapers are generally all seperate, instead of 2 pairs
parallel bodies are the same internal diameter all the way through, tapers decrease in diameter towards the head, increasing the airspeed and giving more torque
to be honest, tapers are the best, but they will be coinsiderably more money, and harder to set up

tapers are much better throttle boddies
and as mentioned somewhere else, maybe fads spec i think.....
LSD
no point if having any amount of power and spending all that money to not move anywhere.
