I prefer the 106 over the saxo, just because they look better and they come with much better interiors, make sure that the head gasket is ok, gearbox crunching and also look out for excessive play in the rear beam on really low examples

the gti is EXACTLY the same car in all respects!! the only reason the timing is different is because peugeot timed there cars slightly differently with a passengar and luggage. This is to give them the selling edge against the vts as its in a lower insurance group

lol yeah ok

its because thevts as a different gear ratio in 2ndand will in facthit 60 in 2nd.

the106gti needs to be in 3rd to hit 60mph
although increase the106 revlimiter and its then same anyway

and when u say EXACTLY the same. not quite true

the pug and saxo dont actually share 1 panel, and use different gearboxes

so not EXACT lol

106's are nice cars thats for sure, im not to keen on the leather interior in them to be honest; they dont support enough; the saxo is deff better value for money IMO but then there is an image to go with. Rallye is worth a thought tho, but dont chav it up; standard is the only way

Have a sxo VTS 4sale if you are interested tho

Great little cars straight out the box, handle well look good, go well.
Bit flimsy like all french cars.
Only probs i had with mine were , driveshaft went and didnt idle very well, may have been lambda?
I would say go for it

Apparently when i bought the car, the garage had just put a new lambda on it and was still running shite, may have been a universal one though??
dectted it in the end and was still the same

gearing in 2nd is different according to all the SSC boys. thats what makes the vts fractionally quicker acceleration.

OMG im not even going to bother now...

my mate had a vts the same time i had my gti we ran them all the time side by, were exactly the same, even had to change at the same time.

Its another case of I own it so it must be the best, its not the case take it from me

Evo tested it independantly and recorded a 7.4 reading for the 0-60 of the 106
