astra is built very well,
BUT
i dont want to end up in debt just to get an astra!
The problem is with my 7k price tag i cant get a mint one, and im not going to buy a 7k car thats not mint and needs work!
Audi, Golf servicing worries me greatly along with the fact of how slow they are standard, maybe after revo chip they would be better
Im going to look at a clio 172, 02 plate with 30k miles for the price i sold corsa for!
Wait 2 years then buy an astra VXR!!

i wouldnt go with the 172, sure they are arguably one of if not the best fwd drivers car, but its french. My mates went back to reno god knows how many times for random electrical faults. best one was when the elecy window switch kept putting the windows down when going round corners in a spirited manner
what about a 200sx s14a? 5-7k bit of a boat as standard but thats easily sorted

I saw the ad about half an hour after he posted it.. so was lucky i guess.
But at the mo i am driving a crappy escort si with no stereo or heater and its driving me nuts, just wish the dvla would get there arses in gear...

172, Great if not the best Suspension of any factory bult hothatch Great handling and dont weigh a tone like the other three. The other 2 Audi and Golf have good bhp on paper but too heavy for sporting aplications just look nice Unless you get the R32. or the 3.2 V6 Audi
As Nismo said The Integra Are also very good to drive

Found a mint clio 172, 30k miles and not much more than i paid for the corsa!
I need something to keep my costs down!
the a3 1.8t is slow in standard form, needs a chip and intercooler - but then im starting that steep hill again of modifying!
Plus being a student the servicing costs of VAG cars are too high!

Brad I'd go for the 172.
Amazing handling and they fly round at castle combe!
Don't be put off that its french. I recently brought my 52 reg Clio DCi and its put together really well.
I bought that for £300 more than I sold the R reg Civic VTI for.
