What would a comparative car be to the GT TDi, like 0-60 etc?

I have never driven a sporty derv so have no idea about what sort of speed they would deliver!!

Is the 110 and the 130 noticeably worse than the 150?

Sounds like it will be hard to go wrong then!!!

Anything will be a decent improvment from the 12v C

Do the GT TDi's have the GTi bodykit?

Thanks for the VERY usefull reply SVM!!

I just want to get something thats already got the decent 'kit' onit for my next car.....

i.e. would want a GSi not a 1.6 sport

So do you get the GTi recaros etc in the GT TDi?

Not a problem Doug - always a pleasure to help mate.

They don't come with Recaros as standard if I remember correctly but the seats are very very comfy and supportive.
They look great in leather and are hard wearing too.

The Anniversay model has Recaros but they have silly red stitching and are no more comfortable or supportive, but actually look a bit cheap IMO compared to the normal buckets, particularly leather in other models.

Yes, there's a big fat easy to spot and hit button on the dash much more entertaining out of bends.

will give me trouble free motoring (corsa has done to an extent)
Will handle well (which corsa dosnt)

I have had a mk4 golf for 3 years now. It may be a bad one (but I doubt it judging by comments on VW forums). the build quailty is awfull, the 3 dealers we have used in Brum are very very expensive and almost useless.

Never again! My Mk2 golf is better and its a lot bloody older!

Same they do 110, 115, 130 and 150 GT TDi's.

I have been getting my info from parkers aswell

What other VAG cars share the 130 and 150PD lumps?

If I were buying a VAG it would probably be a diesel.

My Dad has a MK5 Golf GT TDi with 140bhp and its fucking rapid for a derv. Couldn't believe how much quicker it was over the MK4 115TDi I've been in. but suppose its a different engine as they are now 2.0 rather than 1.9.

I'd go for a Golf TDi 150 over a petrol GTi!

Very good engines

I ahve a 225 BHP hopefully seeing 290 BHP

Uprate DV valve and fit in reverse for a better sound

I have a viper fitted too

Electrics on the VAG's let them down

Engine very good although coil packs are an issue and MAF's can be

I love mine although its not a golf

Only problem my Dad has with his is that from the day he got it theres been a clunking noise when turning the tightly to park. Its been back 3 times. 1st time they said nothings wrong. 2nd time they fitted a new bush even though my Dad said he knows it isn't that. It didn't fix it like he said it wouldn't!

3rd time steering rack was replaced but its still clunking! Its set to go back again but to a different dealer that can hopefully sort it!

Not very good on a brand new car but everything else is faultless

God knows. Hopefully get it sorted soon.

I've been out in a 115 TDi Golf when it was standard and then after it had been remapped to about 145bhp and theres a fair big difference! But I would go for the 150PD straight from the box if you can afford to rather than have a lower power one remapped

i think the diesals are a little misleading though, you get a quick pickup over a short rev range, I think they feel quicker than they are.

I sort of agree with that. My Mum has an older Citroen 1.9TD and on the B road to our house it feels pretty nippy but its cos theres not many stretches to get upto much over 60 so its always in the power band. Get it on the dual carriageway and it feels slow above 60.

Dads Golf is quick on any road though but its alot more modern engine
