Probably the same reason why football players aren't allowed bikes, risk of injury. Renault won't be interested in whether alonso can ride a bike imo he's paid so much to drive a car for them, if he gets injured doing that they can't moan. If he fell of a bike, which lets face it is highly likely when trying to push a 250 150kg one around a track at some pace, renault would be
pissed.

I agree with Cosmo and Tom, no way will they let him do it, he probably wouldn't want to risk it anyway personally! I wouldn't ruin my chances of signing a new multi-millon pound deal!

Not sure if a F1 team would be happy letting their driver loose on a motorbike. Did JP Montoya not break something (collarbone or wrist) falling off a motocross bike and McLaren had to cover it up saying he did it playing tennis?

yeah, last season he missed two or three races because of it. Said he fell playing tennis but were rumours it was when he was on his bike!
