When you hit the track you might be surprised.
Tb'd 1.6 16v done the ring in 9:14
LET done the ring in 9 flat.
Not much in it really is there.
The 20XE would be a way behind both i would think.
20xe is a great engine. Still is today for straight line power.
Thing is if you have cash to spend its gotta be the 1.6 ok you might not have the torque but at least it will handle.
If you dont want it to handle you may as well go the whole hog and Turbo it

yes, ive done quite a few xe conversions but i own a tuned 1.6 (tb's)
for me its 1.6 all the way, xe's are great fun as well. i just love the throttle response, nosie, handling, agility and pure fun factor of the 1.6. Driving 2 litre corsas (or any standard engined everyday car tbh) seems a bit tame compared to the 1.6 now.

yeah but 1600 in stock level is extremely tame ent it whack some tb's on xe and sorry far superior and i think would still remain more reliable
yeah 1600 is gr8 but u are comparing 1600 highly tuned to a STOCK level valver engine to me a fair comparison is a highly tuned valver
its ok for broster etc to say bla bla xe is lacking bla bla but its still a stock engine chucking out as much if not more than highly tuned 1600.
and as for ring i will let u no teddy as im goin over in augest with a m8 to drive round it few times anyways all good

surely not a suggestion that xe's handle crap or are slow

well yeah also teddy 14 secs is alot when u think about it i bet xe would be similar to 1.6 but 1.6 would probs just win in my own opinion.
like saying 1/4 mile 2.0 corsa does 15 secs and 1.2 sxi does 19 secs WELL only 4 seconds aint it but in fact its a fookin lot

the only people that can comment on the 1.6 vs 2.0 argument is people that have driven both regularly. I have and i prefer the tuned 1.6 for the reasons i have already stated.
im sure the trackday at york in a few months will end this debate once and for all

it wont though will it as ppl like different things, else we would all shop at tesco and wear nike trainers have same alloys etc etc 1.6 is better in ur opinion corsa808 thats it dont count for any else, same as any1 else's opinion
i still think a fair comparison to this argument is HIGHLY TUNED VALVER vs highly tuned 1600 thats like for like

i know mine handles too very well i think.
think 1600 owners think valver owners have never driven 1600, my mrs owns a 1.6 corsa so i know how they handle

tansit van has done it in 10, diesel jag in under that. This is all completely irrelevant given that they are different drivers in different condition, with different traffic. Get the ring empty and send a test driver of your choice out in a 180hp xe and a 180hp 1.6 with the same shell prep, wheels, tyres, brakes, and a similar amount spent on suspension and it would be fair.
It wont ever happen like that of course, and eve if it does people wont accept the results.
