train is just as expensive tbh, takes longer and dont fancy bringin several bags on. IMO though the cost of petrol is worth what I get out of it though. As for local travel, work etc, I'd still rather pay the bit extra for petrol than pay for taxis, busses etc

Public transport sucks. It's not convenient like driving your own car, and you have to share with retards and freaks and smelly people.
In that respect, I feel petrol is a small price to pay for having privacy, convenience, and freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want.
Although I would not complain if petrol costs as much as back home for example (Australia)... About half the price of what we pay here!
