Again, a full competition car and not a commercial 'push' of a road car.

In the case of the 106, it was certainly promoted as one in the press.

pug sport france made the dimma 306's with the wide metal arches as standard (know a lad who's on his second one)... not 100% if they made a 205 with standard wide metal arches

French police use them IIRC or at least used to use them.

Yes Tom, Peugeot would have had to construct at least 200 examples for homologation rules. But these cars are outright competition monsters and cost a king's ransom.
If I remember correctly, there were very few 405 versions, as I think the Peugeot pulled off a bit of scam/clever loop hole work, by utilising the 205 T16's homologation to build the 405.
I think they used already built 205s in modified LWB form for the Paris Dakar, and then turned these cars into 405 clones.
I'm not 100% on this, but it definitely rings a bell.

Robin, Peugeot's evil and sceptic marketing men may well have taken advantage of the naive French people and marketed a T16 badged FWD 'road' shitter at them (if so, this is something i've not ever seen or heard of previously, and would be interested to see pics of), but the T16s we all know and love are Group B cars, whether in competition or road trim, and as such are all force induced and 4WD.
I asked about the 504 because there was a 504 Coupe, but the only 405 that resembled a coupe was again as you said a Group B based raid vehicle.
