dizzy means you use a rotor arm (the fact its called a rotor arm makes me laugh! no idea why, but arm! seriously! why not leg)
It's short for armature Broster.
i knew that..........................
So why ask then, you great big silly?
Anyway, the car already has chassis legs, so they had to give it another name.
Besides, if you stand up straight with one arm held out and spin on the spot, you look just like a rotor arm... hence the name.
I presume your car has no rotor arm and some sort of solid state mullarcky then Broster, hence the most common automotive item in the world seeming so alien to you.

Wouldn't have thought so, if they are cylinder mounted units like on vag engines.
Are they like this or are they like the module that replaced the dizzy on the S1 Orion hatchback XR1600i?

Like my what Jimbo?
All my cars use a conventional set up mate.
The Mercedes and the Turbo both use a distributor and I presume the V8 does too.
