Its all about the mapping and getting the right mods.

You say you've had the head ported, but by how much? 284 degree cams should be coming really on song roundabout the area it tails off, certainly seems like soem restriction there.

I'd get it down to Swindon Racing and let them map it, or just let me drive/run it in/test it for you?

DOn't loose faith, you've put so much into it now, it'll be a shame to flog it off when your so close.

Few more mapping sessions and it will get there. ALL about the map on it.

daimo, i would get swindon to build my engine, but never map it

would go to someone like, Karl Norris mark shead, (although i think he's autotronic) or Stu at MSD

i really cannot be arsed polishing vaux's wee baby turn anymore though

you have to question sanity when this much has been spent on a corsa.

going by my posts yesterday.... i could have a 996 with GT3 kit sitting in my garage, rather than a corsa thats demanding more than a few k to make me happy.

sack that, i've had enough. I'll try and sort it out when i'm still in ownership though. try get it MOT'd etc, do a few trackdays. Selling it quickly isnt on the horizon doesnt have neons and subs.... word

words from mapper...

I presumed that the car
was to remain a track car only. I'll admit I made no attempt to get it
emissions test prepared, but I did make every effort to make it start
and idle smoothly - hence the rich idle. It will be running at approx
12.5/1 as opposed to the 14.7/1 that the tester will have been looking
for and it will be very difficult to make a car like that pass an mot
test, particularly when it should have a cat fitted for it's age.
As I said, it was mapped like that for best idle and throttle response.
I would be happy to look at the map for you to try to lean it out at
idle.

The car was mapped with fueling and ignition timing set safely and in a
fashion that would make good power. It may be possible to squeeze some
more ignition timing and hence power, but it is very difficult to fully
differentiate between engine noise and knock at very high rpm. The map
values are around normal for that spec of engine, but there may be room
for improvement when it has loosened up more. I suspect the early power
tail-off may be more to do with the engine being tight than the map, but
it is the norm to slighty richen the AFR at high rpms for safety, which
also kills power a little.

Overall, I don't think the figures are disappointing considering that
our dyno is known to be accurate to the point of being conservative. The
car may well make 10% more power on another dyno and surpass expected
figures.

i'm in malaysia.... cannot drive it from here

The car failed emissions at over 9% CO - hence him stating the comment about track car/mot etc

Should have it on a trackday on the 5th of November. It and the skyline

Put a note in the forsale post the anyone interested in buying the car can come give a blast or psgr lap or two - as the car cannot be driven on the road at the moment.

I'll be trying to sort this asap when i get home, as i believe its a major selling point in the car. I'm always a bit suss about buying a non mot-d car!

Should be home on the 17th October!

Mr Stocker - if you read this.... Trackday is on the 5th.... you up for some of my driving

no - fueling/ignition will not change due to an engine being run-in

Loosens up - how long is a bit of string! A long time unless it gets used.... which it doesnt get much of with me!

I have driven 'the corsa' about 50miles in 4 years maybe

i'm really not bothered about keeping it, or not

Just dont have space, and dont want the hassle of it BUT i do want to use it.... so may raise the price when it gets an MOT

I really am spewing at the selling price though. You couldnt build its engine for the price

I'm not going to put another engine into the car just to sell. Cannot be done with that hassle just to sell 'parts' I'd rather split the wholw thing.

Made about 900quid this last week just from spares

slightly

Des is just ginger.... but thats enough to be concerned with!

Here's a story for you...

Dale pitched up on my door step one winter about 8 years ago. i was still at home with the folks back in aberdeen. He was laughing saying he'd just rolled his car.

So off we went to go find it.... parked at the side of the road looking ok.

It had two burst tyres, no side windows... bare metal down one side...

He'd slid down the road on the side of the car for a while!

Still to this day dont have a clue how he did it
