The first Corsa OPC had 174 bhp from the 1.6 Ecotec.

I think they have put a lot of work into this car. I doubt they will fuck it up and make it serverly underpowered in comparison to the compitition...

Vaux didnt want the 1.6 engine in the GSi/sport making the astra look bad so it was restricted. also i read its always been there economy car. but this is a VXR they cant realy have it under powered wearing that badge can they? im expecting it to be around the 150-170 mark myself. but like others have said its got stiff comp so maybe they'll have smaller power with less of a price tag

Like what the bloke has said in the post above you can't have the VXR badge wearing car being under powered in its class, I reckon it will have 208bhp like Fearless says.

steve stop being a cock. the 16XE put out 150bhp in pre-production spec. was reduced to improve economy and to stop it stealing the limelight from the Astra.

I hope it does have 208bhp.
But I dont know whether it will as surely the performance would then be too similar to the Astra VXR

Spoke to someone a the vauxhall dealership about it and he said 1.6 turbo engine with between 180 and 200bhp.

So that sounds good enough to me, he also said they should go into production about march time and will start taking details for test drives early in the new year.

lol - full of enthusiasm eh...

a) the new corsa got an excellent review from whatcar? autoexpress for every aspect rated as an "improvement over the old model" so if the new one sux...
b) looks are always a matter of opinion - i like it, looks like a mini sport hatch
c) eh? not go as fast as it should? how fast should a 200hp car go? and if you look at the new clio 197, id be surprised if vaux were to compete at hot hatch level KNOWING the competition have a 6.9second 200ish hp car. I would expect these figures to be very similar to the new corsa. christ - the LCR only hits 0-60 in 7.2 with its 225hp!

lol, topgear rates the R at 6.7 from 30-70mph not 0-60... anyway - this is splitting hairs

all im saying is it SHOULD do 0-60 in around 7sec IF vxl want it to compete with other hot hatches

the cupra r 225 is NOT 7.2 7.2 is more like the 180bhp cupra territory even parkers reflects this.

as in the 210hp model?
they have that car here: http://whatcar.com/car-review-performance.aspx?RT=226&ED=4605&U=1

so once again, well done knob jockey - what i cant believe is you moaning that i quoted figures from whatcar? that you dont agree with - thus I must be talking shite.... did i write the review on the LCR? no. so why is it my fault they quote those figurs?

cheers- just proven that you are indeed - a knob jockey.

no as in the 180bhp leon cupra Mk1, the mk2 210 was 7 secs dead maybe a tad quicker.

All i have proven is that you were wrong TBPH
