Or don't even have to worry about it being an option....
When I used torrents you got a faster DL speed by allowing a higher UL speed.

It does work that way, its ratio based.
If you leave yourself a couple of k spare the downloads won't slow and unless you have got some sort of really lopsided connection you should be able to leave yourself plenty ul bandwidth.

see now £8 per month seems a lot when you think about it when torrents are free. 1 a month from newsbiz seems ok, i registered the other day not bought anything yet though.

£8 a month seems a lot? that's £2 a week, 29p a day - less than a copy of The Sun!
And you can get a much stuff as you want as fast as your ISP will allows you! And that's expensive!?
It seems that people do actually want something for NOTHING, not something for a little something - but something for NOTHING!
Oh and registering with Newzbin won't allow you to do anything other than see what you could DL if you were subdcribed to a Newshosting company!

thats gay well in that case they suck, whats the point in paying for somepthing that i can get for free?
yes people want something for nothing, but when the thing you want is avalible for nothing why would i pay £8 a month, so what if you get a guarenteed speed i usualy get between 100-400 k a sec anyway on torrents.

Also depends how long you've had the connection, ADSL max takes 10 days to stabalise. Could also be due to congestion, try testing it early in the morning or late at night to see if its any different. Best way ive found apart from www.testmy.net is to download bandwidth monitor pro from www.download.com then download a large file from a big website (like the HD movie trailers from www.apple.com/trailers and see how fast it goes) Obviously it could just be the line quality, but 2mb seems quite low for ADSL max.

2mb is not quite low for MAX, it all depends how far you are from the exchange and line quality.

I could only just get 1mb on normal adsl in my old place and got 3.5meg with max. I know the UK average is about 5.5mbps, so thought it may be a low result. Not necessarily implying there is a fault, just it might be a low reading

As I stated above this doesn't mean you can instantly download from newsgroups, to do that you need to signup to a newshosting provider.
Newzbin is simply like a search engine that searches all the many different newsgroups for whichever files you are after.
