Don't worry, engine bay is getting a good clean before the new engine goes in. Going to rub out the rust and do some painting so it looks mint.

Roll on Saturday when hopefully we'll get the new engine back together and fitted. Can't wait!

Bad news that Phil, but glad to see you're monitoring my progress. I won't let either of you down. Still shocked how clean this car is like, the chassis legs are as new

Work starts today on the inlet manifold and the g'box. Also got a few last minute parts to pic up from Vauxhall.

This could be in and running tomorrow! Exciting!

It's a E16SE from a '91 Nova GSi.

I got the alloys 2nd hand off one of the lads on our local cruise site. Didn't set me back much tbh. Won't say how much I paid incase I end up selling them

Was sooooo close today, but alas it was not to be! We managed to crack the cam housing, so the jobs off for the time being. Luckily my old 1.2 head is the same as the GSi one, so we can swop them over and just use the GSi cam in it.

The engine is in anyway and is all bolted up. Fitted the driveshafts and the tie bars too. Just need to get the head sorted, hook up the wiring loom and fill it with fluids. Won't be done for the RR day though

Going to paint the inlet manifold now, as cleaning it made it look cr@p next to the rest of the engine. Might all be done for a couple of weeks time, maybe!

Only half of its in now

Gutted we broke the cam housing, but suppose it gives me chance to clean a few more bits up and not rush it. Give me a fortnight and it'll hopefully be finished

Got the chance of some cheap 15" tyres, so might go for the Azev's. I'm going to trial fit them once the engine is done and see what they look like and if they fit. We'll go from there

I've had a few weeks off on the project, but I've been back on it today!

The car is finally back on four wheels! WoW! The new cam housing has been painted, so will get fitted one evening next week. Also re-fitted the radiator and fan, connected up a couple of water houses and some wiring connectors. Front bumper is back on, along with wheel arch liners. Did a bit of waxoyling too, all under the front wheel arches and along the sills. Been busy!

Cheers for the feedback!

Its not running yet, but looks like it should, lol. We've turned it over by hand and everything seems right. Still got to: re-connect the rest of the water hoses, sort the fuel hoses. Do the wiring and set-up the gear linkage. Oh, and do something with the exhaust. People said that you can re-use the original throttle cable too, but its miles too short (unless you make some brackets up and fit it back to front).

Spending some time on in this weekend and it should be nearly there. Going to give it a good valet too, poor thing deserves it, lol.

May have a full GSi kit now to go on it Not sure what I'll fit and what I'll leave off (not sure about the spoiler). Not sure on what colour to do it either, white would look clean but I want a more stealthy look.

I think it might be as quick as a GSi anyway though. It'll be a lot lighter (no electric windows, mirrors, sunroof), lighter engine. 10bhp less (ish), but very similar 0-60 times. So I think the weight loss might mean it'll be as quick as a standard GSi. Maybe!

Spot on, rang Vauxhall and they have an SRi throttle cable in stock. £50 RRP, but I can have it for £30. My local factors don't do one! Really looking forward to it running!

The wiring on an SRi should be very similar, as the C14SE and the C16SE are near enough identical. I'd have said there would be a bit of difference if your using the GSi's ECU though.

I must have taken out 20 wires from the old Corsa loom and am left with 9 to connect to the Nova GSi engine loom. More weight saving, lol!
