neil random question, but did you change the speedo ring on the diff to the black f20 one? as the corsa clocks wont read right at all with the f28 speedo ring.

Errrr.... good question.
The F28 which will be going into the Van has the original Speedo ring on it but it will be running an Elise Stackdash.
But the F28 in mine.... Not sure to be honest as I brought it off a guy who sells Diffs and Boxes on Migweb. When I brought it I believe he had speedo ring which is used on the Astra Digi Dashes.
Do you think this be well out for a Corsa Dash then??? I drive everywhere using a RoadAngel anyway, but would prefer it if the clocks weren't miles out obviously.

if its a black speedo ring or was used on astra digi dash it should have been converted. i mean it will read on any dash just its about 15-20mph out at 60mph.

Ok, cool. I should be ok then, but the F28 going into the Van is defo a blue speedo ring..... I have no idea what so ever how this will effect the Stack Dash but cheers for the advice.

stack dash reads off pulses doesnt it from electric sender? so, i dunno actually

Don't know to be honest.... Think we'll cross that bridge when we get to it and I know theres people on here that have done it before so at least we know it can be done.

19th December
Had the day off work so did a few more hours on the car.
First off... stiffened engine mounts. Now I do have a TAS mount for the rear gearbox and front offside of my corsa (which came off a Nova), but no one as yet makes an uprated nearside gearbox mount. So i did the next best thing....
Filled it with Sealant......
And whilst I was at it I filled the van's rear gearbox mount as well, as Ben does not have an uprated one for his car.
It doesn't look very pretty but will do the job.
Next I fitted the F28 mounts to the box along with the shifter and rear mount spacers.
Once that was complete I got a case of the Power Tools Munchies... lol
What a muppet
Decided to start lining up the power steering pump on the battery tray ready for some clamps to be made up to hold it down.
Not sure where to put the reservoir yet... will worry about that once the unit is clamped down.
On to Dans Civic:
The exhaust was fitted in position with his new titanium backbox in place.
Once that was done.... test drive time.
But first we had to get it out of the barn, which was a tad difficult due to lack of space and a tractor with a dead battery. But it fitted through....just!
As the Engine runs AEM standalone engine management we can configure virtually every aspect of it via a laptop. Which is very useful indeed.
It was getting dark but we took it for a spin down the drive just to see what it sounded like.
I can confirm it sounded Quality!!! The titanium worked a treat and deadened a lot of the horrible Jap "Rasp" the car develops.... Now its just a deep hum. RESULT.
Unfortunetely Dan hadn't tied every thing down in the engine bay and the washer jet hoses found their way onto the exhaust manifold and caused a bit of smoke which was worrying until we realised why the engine was smoking. lol
Anyway thats where we got to. Next progress update on Thursday.

Cheers John Totally agree! And i've got added incentive because I have some good mates around me helping out and doing their cars at the same time.
Oh and the guy who's doing my Powder coating has just been round and dropped off a load of bubble wrapped items I'll unpack them tomorrow and take some pics.

I am very happy with the results and am looking forward to getting the rest of the parts I sent away back.
And here are the rear hubs, discs and calipers which i'll start overhauling later

Received this little beauty today....
HELIX Organic Clutch plate and Cover Assy. By no means cheap (£330) but if its anything like the one I had on my Nova Turbo it'll be more than adequate
After seeing my painted up gearbox, Ben decided it was time to start on his
Whilst Ben was doing that i started to put the polybushes back in the rear beam and wishbones that I have just had powder coated
Myself and Andy then set about stripping down the rear disc hubs, calipers and discs
I think their about had it!!!
The plan is for the calipers to be powdercoated and then have a new seal kit installed along with fresh pads. And obviously some new discs will also be needed as well as the handbrake drums and wheel bearings..... not too much to buy then. Doh!

Hi guys,
Iv eventually got round to joining up so I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Danny and iv been into civics since I could afford the insurance. I say this because I was given a metro when I first passed my test ( I don’t think my parents liked me very much) so after stacking it I decided to follow my dreams and get myself a civic.
Iv had a few civics but iv had my silver one since the start. I brought it totally standard but soon started modding it.
Anyway this is how the civic looked 2 years ago
I was into the styling more back then but soon I wanted a proper street racer so I thought I should get the engine sorted. I did a 1.6 SOHC vtec swap into it and started sorting the suspention. After 6 months of driving about in the 130bhp civic I decided to do a proper engine swap so I brought myself a 2.2 prelude and ripped the engine out.
As I took the 1.6 engine out I decided to get the engine bay sprayed up for the cars new look.
I had different ideas about getting more power out of the 2.2 engine but in the end I decided on throttle bodies.
Because I like a good bargain some TWM 52mm throttle bodies came up for a 1.8 vtec engine, so I had a look around a realised that the intake ports are similar on the 1.8 and the 2.2 so I got them dirt cheap and made myself an adaptor plate.
This seems to be the latest photo I have, I’ll have to get some more of novaneil.

Yep i fitted the engine myself. I do everything myself on my car including machining up the one off bits like vacume adaptors and the intake adaptor.
Before i sprayed up the engine bay i mocked up the engine with some engine mounts from america but i found out that the engine didn't sit where i wanted it to so i modified the mounts to get the engine sitting lower and further back. Im suffering now due to driveshafts that dont fit but i'll find away round it.

is the pump going to get a good fluid supply being upside down??gravity and all that?
got the same pump thats all and is mounted the rite way on the 106

Thats a good point... but I "assumed" rightly or wrongly, that once the system was full of oil it would just "Draw through" what it needed... can anyone confirm this? as you've made me unsure again now

Surely as long as the reservoir is higher up than the pump it should get an adequate supply of fluid anyway
