Not so keen on them, The glanzas are alright, but the starlets look a bit dated.

Lot of money too really, considering their age

If Swiftay ever replies with pics I might be interested in his though

Actually, that's not too bad.

Maybe it was the white which made it look older?

honestly my glanza has all the goodies (air con, abs blah blah) which 172's have, and can be tuned for less money, so if you're wanting to modify the engine, starlet/glanza will save you cash in the long run, so just buy it

I had a 2001 Clio 172 I thought it was brilliant.
It was a fast car and the best thing about it was people thought it was just another slow clio. I use to totally destroy the bigger cars such as Audi's, BMW's even my mate who had a impreza turbo at the time commented on how quick it was.

My tip is get a low mileage one. People tend to sell around 36k and about 4-5 years old. This is due to needing a major service. Renault will charge about £400 - £500 for this also due to the age cambelt change is required. This to can cost up to £500 at Renault as its an engine out job
So make sure its had a cambelt change and up to date on services.
btw if it needs cambelt change get it done as they tend to snap quite abit and it well and truely fecks the engine up.
Other things to look out for is a rattle at certain revs from under the car. This is a buggered exhaust and can cost upwards of £300.
If u need any info let me know. If u get a good one then your laughing

Robin, what car is it you have at the momeny. Cosa B 1.4 or Corsa C 1.4 ? Why did you get rid of the 1.6 conversion if you prefered it over the 1.4 ?

At the moment I have a 1.4 C, I got rid of the 1.6 converted B, as the engine died and I was silly, and I couldn't be arsed to fix it

That info is great Mark, cheers

I'd have the 1.4 C, If you want a fast car don't get French. Corsa's are solid and reliable! It might not be quick but thats where a second car comes in!

I've thought about it, but I'm not sure really, I'd have a few quid to spend on one, but if I spent money on more power, I'd be forever spending money on replacing gearboxes

And, if I buy another 1.6, it'd probably be a Corsa, I know they're reliable.

1.9 205 GTI ? Could be a nice little project for you as well. lol kidding.

What about...

Toyota Starlet. Was mentioned above. Those cars have grown on me alot i think there nice looking car. Especially in black or white. There fast as well

I guess if you don't want a 106 you wouldn't want a Saxo VTS. erm... Mini Cooper ? I love those cars but are still pretty expensive 2nd hand.

Not keen on the MINI really, wouldn't want to be seen driving one

I've considered a 205GTi as well, seems like a good choice, but not sure I could justify spending £3k on a 15 year old car, just to be sure I got a minter.

You should be able to pick one up for cheaper than that.

I seen a few pics of them inside there actually nicer then some corsas. Leather seats etc... There are pretty nippy as well - so i've heard.

The clio 172 is a really nice car as well though.
