TBH you would need an LSD and some ultra wide tyres to get the power down

Stripping your car costs nothing so if you stripped a sport and added an inlet, de-cat, exhaust system and re-map it would be quicker. Not for under £600 quid though But it is French so it would be cheaper to tune the Corsa in the long run

my pug is 10x as reliable than my old corsa sport was.

if,if if, you added a cosworth engine to the 106 it would beat a corsa LET

10 ways to make a corsa quicker than a 106..........by 3corsameal & colin

1. Fit Ebay superchip.
2. Install desk fan S/C.
3. Take a pre race shit.
4. Increase the tyre pressures
5. Let down 106 tyres
6. Put down rear seats to reduce air friction.
7. jog round the block a couple times to warm up....trying to miss the puddles.
8. clay-bar the car to lose any additional weight in muck.
9. draw up to the starting line, hold hands with the 106 driver until the lights change.
10. nae chance.

No offence but the GTi 6 is a heavy beast as are all 306's, they barely pull a car length all the way to book speed, I used to have a VTS (totally standard) and my mate in his PH1 GTi-6 couldnt believe it when he couldnt pull an inch on me, same happend when a lad in town got a PH2 nothing in it, also the VTS and 106 GTi are meant to be the better handlers.

better than a 306? joker

i agree they are quite heavy but that is easy to sort, exhaust/airbox weight a ton so i ditched them for lighter parts, lost the spare wheel, and with my new inlet and map should be running 185-190bhp

Ph1 is also heavier than phase 2 is it not?

Im yet to meet a pug/vts that can keep with me.

You don't need a 150bhp corsa to beat a 106gti. Monster ran a 15.8 i think. He has an inlet, exhaust manifold, de-cat ad full system, and it's also stripped. Rob B ran a 15.9 i think, and Big Eck also ran a 15.9. Yes i know weather conditions come into effect. But there is so much shit spoken on this forum about 106 gti's being the greatest car EVER. GTi/Saxos are faster than a corsa 1.6, yes.

I aint no joker, how is it so hard to accept that a smaller lighter car could be better handling than a heavier one with a longer wheelbase?. They are a lot similar than you expect in performance terms, granted the GTi 6 would have it top end, yours is modified so thats fair enough but standard they arent very quick due to all that weight. edited to say, what have you done to get those kind of gains? GTi-6 quite a tuneable lump or not?

I feel I can answer this question as I have owned an XE corsa for 4 years and now the GTI for just under a year

In a straight line upto 80mph the corsa will pull ahead as this post is about the 1.6 corsa they will have no chance in keepin up with a gti/vts unless a fair bit of cash has been spent on them and the car is seriously stripped out, remember my 15.9 sec run was with full interior, 3/4 of a tank off fuel and a passenger
