THESE FUCKING THREADS GET ON MY TITS.
There is 1 a week about 106 GTi's and we all know they are a good car for what they are, so can we stop comparing every single performance car in the entire world against it.
The final straw was the 106 GTi Vs Evo 8

numberplate looks silly in that location, are you blind?
why does it though, just because you say it does every one has to agree and no i'm not blind.
then agen owning a 106 you would say it was better.
[Edited on 30-04-2007 by mark_gsi]
i think most people think the 106 rear looks better, due to the numberplate locations, i have nothing against the vts at all its pretty much the same car, but aesthetically the 106 has a nicer rear

gearboxes and ratios are exactly the same mate, i can dig out the ratios for both if you like? although id prefer it if you beleive me as im not sure where they are, will need some searching

They ARE different ratios
The wifes VTS will sit at 70mph @ 3k RPM where mine will be at 60mph at the same RPM
On a private track (motorway very late at night) her car would do 130mph in 4th gear
My mates has a VTS gearbox with the exact same ratios as the wifes

i love arguments on here, it would be so easy to blow this into a wild 1 by saying a corsa gsi is better. im not going to because it clearly isnt but saxo and 106 are basicly the same

eck im not going to argue with you but they are the same, they even share the same part number, i know when investigating for a new gearbox, im pretty sure mines around 3k at 60, i have also seen the gear ratios for both cars;
dont forget the vts has 15's as standard

i'm not goin to argue with you either steve but I can assure you they are different well the 2 boxes that i've came across are.
The MK1 VTS came with 14" alloys as standard
