hmmm was seriously thinking of getting a vxr but now i have my doubts
might just wait till the 'hot' versions of the the 197 are released (cup, f1 etc) and stick to renaults. My current clio sport has done me proud over the last few years

For one thing, the VXR is slower round one track, not a track. Its a similar situation Ferrari had at the weekend, thier cars couldn't go fast enough round Monoco because they are too big.

A remap / exhaust / IC will see huge gains in the corsa andi would expect it to leave the clio!

He means you can't walk in to a dealer and drive away with one, you have to order them and delivery times are around 12 weeks. The Clio, you can drive away without a wait.

Think i'd rather have engine capacity over a turbo. More torque and no lag.
Its an unfair race IMO

how the fuck is it an unfair race
i like how this vxr everyone has been going mad about doesnt quite appear to be the best in its class after all, and now all of a sudden its unfair
i bet you right now had the vxr beaten the clio it would have been totally fair

It is a fair comparison, they're in the same class, competing directly against eachother.
Comparing the Corsa to a Focus ST would have been unfair.

which is not a great deal of differnce considering one car is turbo charged
End of the day whether its quick or slow around a track doesn't really matter
If you are considering one then drive both, decide which make you smile more etc and then buy ity
If you want a track car buy a westfield or something
A race around a track means fuck all as you probably spend 99.9% of your time on public roads
the track race makes up part of a review not all the review

go away steve, you just want the opportunity to bash vauxhall, TBH you opinion counts for nothing, you drive a Peugeot.

I know, but it's still more, the reply was to Superlite who said "Think i'd rather have engine capacity over a turbo. More torque and no lag." Which isn't the case.

Especially when you consider that that 260NM is available from just over 2000 RPM to just under 6000 RPM

both are very nice cars but IMO £16k for a corsa is unbelievable. I was going to splash out and buy a new Astra VXR but decided that i can do an awfull lot with £20k.
I know they will keep thier value and depreciation will be minimal but they are over priced , can get a lot of car for £20k
As far as 106s go they are shit, not worth thier weight in scrap. Ive owned one too

VXR prices will drop like a lead baloon like any other vauxhall, and like most of the other hatches in it's class TBH.
If your bothered about depreciation, buy a second hand one for £15k, and pocket the £5k
