Steve, so you're saying with the same driver that drove the VXR drove a 106 GTi, he would beat the VXR time?

Corsa conceded defeat at Ty Croes to the Clio because of the nature of the circuit.
Corsa is fast around NBR.
If you had a straight track which went on for 100 miles with no bends then I'm afraid I'm going to call the Corsa rubbish and take my JCB Dieselmax.

OK, you in a 106 I pay for and I'm scrapping afterwards vs me in a Gallardo.
There's enough in the kitty to buy the former, hire the latter and make internet history.
Ian I think your mistaking me for steve here. I give you the benefit of the doubt that your a fairly capable driver. Therefore I don't rate the 106's chances And your whole example is utterly silly and pointless.
A gallardo could be beaten by a Corsa VXR round a track. Does that make the Corsa VXR faster round all tracks, by all drivers?

106's are the shit. nothing is better. never.
Read my posts in this thread, no where did I suggest this, or think this.
106's are 'shit'. End of. There are far better cars than them out there.
yep, a corsa vxr
agreed Hence if you read my posts, you'd see I've already come to this conclusion. I've already concluded in my posts that a Corsa VXR is quicker than a 106 gti when driven well, and I know I'd definately prefere a Corsa VXR to a 106 gti.
So I honestly don't see your point or why your turning this thread into general rubbish?
same driver in either car, corsa vxr will still be quicker. or do you not understand that?
That's EXACTLY my point! the one I keep saying!

All I'm saying is that you have to assume similar driving characteristics. The value of the car really should be factored out of an objective discussion.

You've completely mis read and mis taken the point of my posts... possibly by muppetsports random quoting and replies...
You both seem to think at some point I said the 106 gti is quicker than a Corsa VXR (and a gallardo? :lol) - I didn't say this at all, and if you read through the full 3 pages and all my replies, you'll see how much I praised the Corsa VXR!
What I was saying was in reference to steve's comment, essentially a 106 gti 'could' be quicker round a track than a corsa VXR, if the corsa VXR is driven by someone shit, and the 106 gti is driven by someone good. Also other factors such as the Corsa VXR not wanting to smash his car up...
This does not say - the Corsa VXR wouldn't beat a 106 gti, if driven by the same driver, or that 106 gti's are best...
I have said and keep saying, round the ring, round a track, by the same driver, or two drivers of equal skill the Corsa VXR would beat a 106 gti... So I honestly don't see why you two are quoting and trying to start an argument when I feel the same as both of you...
I'm not steve.

I'm not in any shit. IF you actually learnt to read, you'd realise your just making a big deal out of nothing. I suggest you actually read my posts and you'll realise your arguing about nothing.

Your argueing like children and neither have decent cases, no one on this site can say they have driven both standard 106 gti and corsa vxr round a track and havent the knowledge to say what will be quicker. There is no point in argueing in either instance for this reason.

This is the comment that got me Without a very quick straightline car this time IS NOT easy to achieve. I know people how have been going to the RING for years in their Tuned Hatches and would be over the moon to get this time.
Im sure your a good driver Paul, and may beable to do it, but to most it would be very very difficult to achieve this sort of time at the RING.
I think its a fantastic achievement for the VXR and proof to everyone that its Engine / Handling / Brakes setup works extremely well.

Neil you have u2u. It's a good time even Bridge to Gantry... Even better time for a full lap!
hence when I thought it said record time 8 mins 47 (thinking it was bridge to gantry) it wasn't anything amazing for a racing driver.
After realising it was a Full lap time 8 mins 47... the corsa VXR would've done a low 8 min or better B - G time with the pace it did on the 8 mins 47 full lap time! Which is absolutely incredible and definately what I'd be expecting for a record setting time
