The car has covered 100 miles since Friday and im lovin ever minute of it.
Got my Dad involved Sunday and we checked everything was tight and we mounted the ecu and sorted the wiring.
Had a small problem with 4th gear so we took the linkage off and bent it slightly. It now clears the rack. Have now got all gears.
When you work through the gears the car is very quick. The power just keeps coming. I took my mate out and he said.
"its the quickest car he has been in"
You guys that put 2 litres in I can only imagine what it's like to drive. And those with LETS you guys are mad.
Cheers for the help dad. Boy was it feckin cold

The car has covered 500 miles since it has been put on the road and not missed a beat.
The engine isnt using any oil or water and is still quiet.
Going to put a new thermostat in at the weekend as the one on the car is open and also while im at it put a radiator fan switch inside for those hot summer days.

Recently the gearbox has been giving me some gipp. Notchy 3rd gear, Really noticable from 2nd to 3rd. Have recently joined MIG and a member on there supplied me with another F18 gearbox and also had a spare starter as mine was starting to rattle.
Started the strip down new year day. Nice and early 9am start
Sorry didnt take any photos of the rebuild but I put a new clutch in in and its PUKKA.
Just need to sort out some subtle body mods when the weather warms up.

Well Im back. I sold the car to a friend last may and he had to sell as he had picked something sensible up
How it looked when I got rid of it
A year later
He had continued where id left off dropping the car 60mm, colour coding, taking all the badging and bumperstrips off.
Adding a sub and amp, Sporty steering wheel. Was at a good price and really coudnt refuse.
So put the car in my other garage.
Pan is to pull the engine out
Refurb the engine
Paint the rusty bits
Paint the wheels
Enjoy it.
New digs for the build.
Engine. What has he done to you.
Had leant my engine hoist out.
Lowered the car to the ground so the engine was touching the floor disconnected both left and right engine mounts and slowly lifted the car.
Moved the engine out of the way secured the car on axel stands then started to strip the engine down.

Block and Gearbox degreased with petrol
Then painted them but the havent got the photos
Then built the engine back up. Added new shiney water rail
Then painted the rocker and timing belt cover
Then took the battery tray off. Sanded down any rust then repainted.
I then screwed hard plastic to the bulkhead as I want happy with the 6 holes that were left. Then painted. Im going to move the coolant bottle over and higher up. The coolant bottle clips into the slight overhang. The distribution block will be located there aswell. No chance of any shorts.
Steering rack painted and refitted
New wheel colour

Got a bit more done today.
Got the engine on a hoist and slung it in.
Then sorted the wiring out. I intend to use the amp wire to move the battery into the boot. Its thick enough.
Retaped the Harnes in black
Then put the coolant bottle in the new location
Bit more wiring to still do but looks tons better.

Did a bit more today. Got the new bearing finally sorted and treated it to a new hub
Then started to build it up do it can be rolled out for a breath of fresh air. Also painted the inner arches with stone chip.
Also painted the caliper up.
The car is now on a 40mm drop. Sold the 60mm springs and with the cash raised was able to buy new.
Rolled out. Still dirty from when it was collected. Also wheels painted Rover Hurrican grey.
Put the exhaust manifold and down pipe on and sprayed high temp paint. same as the block
Then sorted relocating the battery
Plenty of room.
Securly mounted the distributor block at the from.
Earth wire sorted
Then live wire amp wiring
Just need to get the battery securly mounted. Maybe box in in. Not to sure yet
Cut the carpet then put the amp back in.
Have started wiring in an alarm. And also fitted an Alpine CD player. Hahe stripped the center of the dash down to replace the heater control panel lights.
Will post more progres pictures soon.

I decided to clean and cut up the original battery tray. A fresh lick of paint.
.
Attached the center section. Then filled with water and oil.
.
Have spent all day finishing up the alarm and sorting the stereo out.

Thanks for the reply. Its nice to be different.
Well spent the morning finishing up.
Have a few little jobs to do. Front rubber spoiler on the bumper needs to go on. And change the exhaust. Am going for a cat back not sure which yet.
Am very happy with the car. Have covered about 60miles in it with the engine not using or leaking any oil.
For anyone wanting a cheap alarm this is whats fitted to mine and am very happy with it. Wasnt sure if buying a cheap alarm is a good thing but they seem very profesional and its not a china alarm (Apparently). Buy it, You wont be dissapointed.

Oh nearly forgot. Picked up a set of 17s. Was at a silly price. Not sure if ill put them on.
I am liking the hurrican grey paint on the wheels on the car so may spray them.

Hi mate, You will see that when 2nd and 4th are selected the top of the selector will be fouling the steering rack. What I did was take the assembly off the car and bent back the this part.
The linkage is easy to take off. But id firs make sure it lines up.
Drill bit in here wiggle it around and it will slot in a grove
And a drill bit here. Both holes line up

Just the one by the rack. You will only need to bend a little.

Well the cars been on the road a couple off weeks. The engine is occasionaly puffing blue/ black smoke. Its running a decat so just hoping its that as it doesnt seem to be using any oil. Am keeping a very close eye on it.
Well have a week of work so time to do a little body work.
Took the rear bumper off and side arch moulding. A little rust but nothing to worry about.
Trial fitted my 17s. May cut the arch back a little as the car is on 40mm springs but have 60mm coming as want the back a little lower.
Front arch moulding off.
To trial fit my Ford Fiesta ST side skirts.
Am going to cut the skirt down so the arch and skirt butt up.

Well had a go at fitting the side skirt and FAILED misserably
I decided to trim the skirt to the arch. That way id didnt leave a massive hol where the skirt finished. Big mistake.
It looked really bad. So scrapped that idea. And decided to do my tailgate.
That came out ok. Did take more photos but didnt come out. Had a mate weld 2 plates in and used fiberglass filler and normall filler. Has been a week and hasnt cracked.
60mm springs arrived
The back sitting nice and low.
Am going to fit a cat back system in a few weeks. But once thats done thats about it.

So feeling low at the moment. The engine is still smoking. Part of me wants to rip it all apart and sort the valve stem seals out, where as the other part want to just throw another engine in. Did a compresion test and all bores are 225. Another nice day so took some photos to cheer myself up.

The parts were bought new and cost £130 delivered. That was
complete left engine mount.
Rear spacer plates
ARB lowering blocks.
But that was nearly 3 years ago
New left mount with mounting plate
I dont think any other mount will fit. It has to be this custom made.
The right gearbox mount is standard but the back mount is moddified.
Thanks for the bump
