I'm glad my mad max power box has gained a bit of interest.
As for a performace upgrade it must be a sure thing. Didnt Dave A find that a sock filter gain somthing like 6bhp.
I'm going to try and get another made up a give it to somone to do the performace test.
Ideal candidate should have baisic engine mods ie filter exhaust, be prepared to fit it, have a before mad max power run, and then take it for a power run with the mad max fitted.
I'll test one
What have you got then?
X16xe
Mild set of cams
And a decent exhaust

Small Update
If this were a standard sport then I would be done with the first one.

but this is a GSi and I have to put a AFM in there some where. Its not helped by the differing diamters.

SFS have been good to me with the hoses, and I have a K&N on the way. So thats for the week end.
Notice I painted it so looks a little less "Mad Max"
Also did a bit or work on the top of the standard inlet half. As there are big areas where the gasket finishes and the holes starts.

The next two(one of which is the freebie) are well on the way to be finishing. The next ones have a thicker top and more welding done inside to make it a bit neater

Aluminum would be more expensive due to the cost of the material, and the technique required for welding it (tig welding instead of mig).

Finished done and running on a X16XE
I would post up the vid but my phone and a couple of bad followers makes it sound like tractor which it does not sound like when driving.
So once the followers are done this will be used for the power run.
Taking orders now
£130 with everything(box, blanking plate, gaskets, SFS silicon hoses, intake ducting hose, and throttle body.
Throttle body has to be modified so I will need the old ones back
