Too much in the background there Iain, loads of grass/trees etc etc. Compare to Butlers ones posted afterwards, much simpler....

i know it sounds easy but all these shots were taken after a clean and then going for a drive...best shots ive taken by finding somewhere by random!!
oh and this was in my drive!!
take a look at the map, decide which direction and see what you can find!!

apart from that poor quality, the car park one is a decent location, not keen on the rest, the church one for instance, again im looking at the church thinking, nice century gothic style church there, the corsa in the shot being an afterthought

Alot of thing to be taken into consideration IMO. Generally something that works well with the car you are shooting but also doesnt detract too much from your subject.
I didnt have a choice where i shot this lambo but it worked well imo, colours play off the car colour and the plain runway doesnt detract too much from the subject:
Plain wall bg for this simple shot of a corsa:

Great pic of the Lambo. Not keen on the Corsa though - whats with the glow round it? I know its an after effect, but looks odd....

Another of the Lambo i like. Bg helps frame the car here (note how the roof line doesnt go above the dark trees)

When I take photos I rarely concentrate on the car itself. It's usually to the side or something. I love a good background, just the style of pictures I do I guess.
Some examples of photo's, which I personally think work well:
