Interlace because the image is interlaced. Image is drawn in two passes with each pass drawing a line then skipping one, with the second offset by one line. Bad at any resolution because movement in the same plane as the scan (ie. left to right) is not drawn concurrently.

Windscreen pillar contains the previous frame on the offset lines and the current frame on the base lines.
Progressive if the image is progressive, ie. all drawn one pass. This requires a faster scan hence why devices which can do this are more expensive.
