As an aside, i cant believe that Defoe is up for sale today and we arent in for him!
I cant believe Rafa thinks that our strikers (bar Torres) are anywhere near up to scratch.

I dont know who this Mein Herr is but I like him 
The deal isnt 100% done yet, but it has all been agreed. It doesnt have to be done within the transfer window as he is a loan player - we just wanted it doing as he is free to speak to other clubs now and sign a pre-contract agreement. Not that he wants to do so though, its just those dodgey MSI that could want to push things elsewhere.
As for his worth - we've had him 18months now and I'd be happy if it came out we were spending £25m for him. I really feel he is one of the most important players in the team - mainly as he allows Gerrard to attack so much more, hence his goals this season in a relatively under performing team.

TBH Defoe is only as good as those two and really wouldnt be the answer to our problems - he'd only be a waste of money to fill a gap for 6months until decent players are available in the summer.
Personally I'd like to see Voronin and Kuyt to go (I like the guy but just 'working hard' wont cut it anymore) and to keep Crouch as an option from the bench.

Tevez + Torres would of been ideal, but with his final price being rumoured to be over £25m Im not sure. Berbatov would be another good choice in that position.

I feel like we are half assed in our interest in players. It's almost as if we don't beleive from day one we can sign alot of 'big name' players. It would be nice target someone and be cocky enough to just know that the deal is gonna get done some way or another, I feel like we are too polite as a club 
Just look at man utd, you know if they still want berbatov he's gonna go. Same with carrick, hargreaves, tevez, rooney etc etc, they just get the deal done one way or another.

Yeah but they have the money to back it up. I think if we went in for these players and had the money then 90% of them would join up...like Torres did.

Yeah, some have turned out to be disappointing - mainly Kuyt.
Benayoun hasnt been amazing, but 10 goals is a great return so far. Babel is obviously up and coming but still scored a fair few and looks promising. Voronin was a free so makes little difference, will make some money off him when he goes.

We did sign 4 teenagers which look good as it seems me might finally be building for the future but when we've got quite a small squad and the only bit of business we do is to send one the first team on loan it takes the piss
Anyway I'll stop hijacking your thread now

Agreed but benayoun is performing, I know why people don't rate him that highly but he's playing well so deserves his place.
Agree with players mentioned, also a bit disappointed in arebloa and aurellio. Could do with some strong defenders or wingers and a stiker
