New meet location???
Its not a two for one but its good, The Sun inn at Hawkshead.
Open and serving food!! I've just spoken to them to make sure... Easy to get too, very scenic and parking's sufficient.

is everyone getting the ferry across windermere or driving round?

i might add it may be better driving round, as im not sure there is a car ferry, may be mistaken though. the other thing is that getting the ferry means you have to drive through bowness on a sunday, which is never a good idea

The pub its self is a short walk from the car park but getting to it is easy by road. There isn't any point in the ferry and this is corsasport not ferrysport ha haa.....

If you leave the M6 at junction 36 and stay on the A591 till you reach Ambleside then follow the signs for Hawkshead you can't go wrong.
When you come into Hawkshead follow the road round to the left and there are signs for the car park
Just spoke to them and warned them of the possiblity of a large group.

apparently the ferry driver heard cries coming from the lake one night, so he went out to see if he could help anyone. then witnesses who were waiting for the ferry saw the driver come back but he wasn't talking any sense etc and seemed very ill. then he died afew days later. so a priest went to the lake with loads of villagers and exorcised the lake, then supposedly he walked down to the waters edge and picked something out of the water. he then took the "thing" to a nearby quarry and banished the demon to the quarry forever. a teacher heard the story and went to the quarry to show it was all a load of nonsense and was never seen again

Bit too far for me this. Can't really be bothered driving all that way after commuting all week and then driving about for work too.
