AK your an inspiration to us all, I loved the Pug 205 how it was built for one prupose. I always think mint cars are comprimised out on track cos your always worried of binning it.
I am all for mint cars but there is a line and at the end of the day I supose "what ever floats your boat" and all that malarky.
agreed.

[QUOTE=Dec.;3652069]After last weeks rather unproductive weekend, we made some real progress today!!!
We started by finishing the front suspension, new brake disks and fitting the wheels. Calipers are awaiting new sealing kits, watch this space...
With the chassis rolling for the first time in many months, we decided to bring it outside for its first airing and a dust off!!!
Got a shot of the boot while I was at it
We then set about fitting the doors (which I had built up in the shed) First I needed to clean up the check-straps.
Drivers door fitted, dad cleaning excess paint from the passenger side door hinges so the door fitted on cleanly...
With the doors and check-straps fitted on went the very cool door cards
Just a final pic of the doors...
Hope you enjoy as much as I have
Next step is to get the brakes working!

[QUOTE=Dec.;3645252]Hi folks,
Managed to get the gear shifter and rear suspension fitted yesterday. All was going well until one of the bolts I had plated decided to shear off we spent 2 hours messing about with it, in the end cut the b@stard off with the dremel cutter!!
Here are a few pics...
The gallery underneath which we handpainted to get full coverage...
Shifter in place.
Brakes in place (I know the nylon bush is not on the handbrake cable BTW )
New kunifer lines fitted..
Beam being fitted up...
Bilstein rear shocks with custom made rear springs (slightly lower than standard ride height.)
Underside with wheels fitted (starts to look like a real car now )
This gives an idea of the ride height...
Astra GTE wheels aren't staying long term, Royston has kindly sold me a set of original 13" steelies
I might make a start on the front suspension or fit the doors depending on how cold the garage is... it's snowing outside

Hello
Thanks for your interest in the project JR, and thanks to everyone else for your comments - I appreciate some of you think I'm mad
This project is 2 years old now and started off as a track day car, as I learnt more and more about the heritage behind the 'Sport' model I decided I wanted to restore it to original factory condition.... then I got a bit carried away
I know concours is not for everyone, most people build cars to use them and enjoy them on the track. Hopefully you'll appreciate looking at this one as much as I've enjoyed building it
Engine and box are nearly built up, full progress on Migweb:
Cheers,
Dec

I know what you mean - if you built that yourself, you'd be scared to drive and ruin it.
However, in 3 years if he is ready to sell, I'd happily buy it and use it. Mainly, because it'd essentially be a 3 year old Nova, and got for another 10. Rather than buying a 'mint' Nova which is actually 13 years old.
Top work, I couldn't do it

Car wont be getting used though, so will still be in this condition. Read on PNG it wont be getting used and will be kept in a carcoon. Trailered to a couple of shows a year if that.
This will be worth thousands in a few years to the right people.

Awesome! Simply Awesome. Fantastic to see a car being restored to a condition which will be better than when it left the factory.

IMO i would love to be rich enough to do this as a hobby for the rest of my life
I personally wouldn't go for somthing so old though Maybe a Escort RST would be the oldest i'd go too or maybe a MK2 Golf GTI.
Good work mate!
