It won't as its two English teams playing each other. You both know what to expect so whatever edge Liverpool have in Europe they won't have. Which is why the game the other night was good.

tell that to Chelsea x2

I genuinely didn't, we were pretty solid in the 2nd half. Arsenal's consistent magic goals are few and far between now, at the start of the season they were absolutely immense and the way they were patient but always ending up with goals was what set them apart from themselves 12 months before, but they aren't doing that anymore which makes it all a bit insignificant now unfortunately.

BTW watch out man utd, chelsea aren't out of this yet.

TBH I love how anyone away fan - who has never been to a European game at Anfield - can comment on it

I've been to an european match at anfield, with my best mate who's a Pool fan.

I agree its an immense atmosphere....unrivaled in the prem imo, but it only affects the opposition if they let it.

So why are you lot different when Chelsea who are also a semi-English club (more so than you lot actually) were affected twice by it.

Also, what game did you go to?

I just think we are pretty strong mentally. I don't see what the difference is between playing Liverpool away in the prem or CL, and we have been successful at anfield in the past.

But who knows...I may be wrong...we may get stuffed......

I was at Liverpool v Barca last year.

I accept other opinions.

But when you say you dont see a difference between an away League game at Anfield, and an away CL game at Anfield then you are obviously taking the piss.

Wether I've been to an FA Cup game, CL or Premiership game at Old Trafford, the atmosphere is always the same. The place is buzzing, that includes the tram journey, walking to the stadium, outside the stadium, inside and inside the ground watching the game.

I fail to see how a European game at Anfield will be any differant to an FA Cup or League game. If anything, some of the CL magic will be missing as you're playing an English team. You've even admitted before that in these games it comes down to who has the better game on the day.

I'm sure the atmosphere at any game at Anfield is buzzing.

In answer to your last question - it is.

BUT its totally different on a CL game, even against the shitest of opponents. If you havent been to one then I'd understand you wouldnt know - but Ive been to many of them and its a totally different experience to any other type of match Ive been to.

I must admit there is the excitement that its a European game, my point is as its Arsenal, you both know what to expect as was evident this week and your European flaire won't be as strong.

As you put it, it comes down to who has the better game on the day. Otherwise you would have played like that in the League against them. Theres also the fact that you probably saw the CL as your only chance of silverware whereas you had accepted that you were going to finish 4th in the league.

OK, so every other reason than our players playing well as the fans are behind them so much, and their players being effected in some way by the atmosphere.

I mean the atmosphere may well do NOTHING to players...but then you'd wonder why numberous managers/players say how its the 12th man and helps us.

Of course the fans help you, god knows Fergie goes on about it often enough!

But that goes alongside being drawn to the fact that you're going to finish 4th! I'm sure the fans helped you win the FA Cup in 2006.
