Lets get this straight, i dont care about england, i couldnt give a shit if they never qualified for another major tournament, never played another united player, even if all the others died in a freak accident, i just personally think JT is a complete and utter wanker, and shouldnt be the captain, Gerrard should, then rio, because rio is genuinely passionate about the game and does a lot of leading on the pitch, maybe even more so than Terry when he is the captain.
I do not like ManUre, correct but it doesn't influence my opinion, especially when it comes to a player, I have even said on this thread that Ferdinand is 'damn fucking good' or words to that effect, I also said that he is an automatic selection IMO (along with Terry). I don't really watch much TV to be honest so I will give you and Cosmo etc the one about the adverts but I do not see he doing the whole WAG thing and he seems as if he is a lot more 'normal' off the pitch as a result. Granted, Gerrard has his WAGbag and despite that and my previous comments, I would also have chosen him as captain (albeit by a sodding knats cock) as I rememeber him coming out 3-0 down in the CL final and shouting his tits off, upping the crowd etc, I thought at the time 'Is he on smack or something - he is flogging a dead horse here!' then he put in an inspiartional performance, just as he did in the FA Cup final against West Ham. Him and Terry have that ability, I don't see it from Ferdinand TBH. They all perform at a consistently high level for club and all have had howlers for England but Gerrard and Terry seem to have that extra notch in the big games that I do not see from Ferdinand. I have lost count of the amount of time that Terry has done some great last-ditch challenge and despite being a central defender he has a respectable goal rate as well.
I, albeit for a very short spell of time, had a few games for junior Latics, going back in time a long time admittedly, but saying no-one would stay in the middle is a bit narrow minded TBH.

On performances alone Rio has outperformed Terry for the past couple of seasons. And i dont think his leadership qualities can be questioned if you watch many united games you will see its like having 2 captains at United, Rio for the defence and Giggs upfront
But as he isnt our official captain, gerrard should have got it. so that he ha to play in every england game

The only i'm not even more upset about terry being named captain is that ferdinand is into the whole chest bumping/being angry thing after we score and the cameras would focus on him more if he was captain and i'd end up with a broken tv cos' it annoys fuck out of me
