Beckham should start for england, no-one crosses the ball better than him and he has proved that on numerous occasions, yes walcott got a hat-trick but he doesn't look like he should be a perm first team starter yet

Why, build for the future not look to the past
Same with Heskey and James... unfortunately they are the best we have at the mo though... besides, Lamps and Gerrard can cross well enough IMO

Seriously, are you having a laugh.
Why continue to play Beckham when in a couple of years he'll be too old to even play in the World Cup. Might as well play Walcaott and get him experience before throwing him in at the deep end.
FWIW, I think Walcott is far better winger than Beckham anyways.

Yes lampard and gerrard can cross well, but playing centre midfield you aren't usually in a position to be making crosses
I just think you should make use of what you have while you still have it, and Walcott will gain his experience from being in the squad and coming on etc
He's far to hot and cold atm

Agreed Walcott isn't there yet but this kind fo experience will do him no harm whatsoever and int he meantime he is still gettign into goofd positions and causign trouble for defences... + Gerrard is always gonna be out on the wing somehwere/floating in whilst Lamps is playign (which incidentally I agree with as Lamps has loooked excellent for England under Capello)

*cough* Ashley Young *cough* imo he's a better crosser of the ball than walcott
Not the finished article either, would like to see him get a chance on the wing though. Hopefully get to see him in the next 6 months of friendlies.
Walcott wasn't too good last night, but that was down to the service, or lack of it really

Im more bothered for the Chavski game. We could lose over there and still easily qualify from that group, but losing to Chavski wouldnt be a good result at all.

Beckham should be played for as long as he is able to. Walcott has plenty of years ahead of him. Seems a waste to have Beckham on the bench when he is still able to perform at the highest level.
Might as well play Joe Hart in goal and bring David James on for 5 minutes.

exactly, Walcott is still learning, he needs to watch beckham. yes he is fast, but never tracks back. you can get away with it against Belarus and Kazakhstan but good teams will love it with just a right back to beat

If you have Beckham in the team then it means you need a forward on who can head the ball. Rooney is too small, and Heskey isnt a great header of the ball. It also means you need a left winger who is a proper winger and will be covering the back posts when balls a crossed in.
So taking the above into account means you also need to change two other positions to fit Beckham into the team!

by putting walcot in the team you need a right back who can run all day, and track back after pushing forward as walcott wont cover. you also need the whole team to have pinpoint passing to find him with his hands in his pockets on the wing, as he wont come and find it/help.
running at defenders, hes great, he has pace and a decent shot, lacks work ethic

I wish people would jump off the DB bandwagon. He is shite. I would sooner a young TW made mistakes and learnt in games like this than at the world cup finals when golden balls isnt around. I also think its a disgrace that all the england greats will probably be surpassed by him with his 5 mins here and there caps. We could bring on an ashley young in games like that.

I really don't understand some people's take on the game of football, PE teachers and sunday league managers across the land seem to be failing.
Why play Beckham (who can cross a ball) in a team that Capello has got playing total football? The way he wants them to play doesn't suit Beckham's game, England have players that are good in the air, there is no question, but England's goal alately have been all about the build up play and intricate passing, splitting defences and getting in behind the back line.

Exactly, and Walcott (and Young etc) are the type of players to get in behind and beat defenders, play killer balls etc rather than the hoof it up and klet the strikers deal with it approach we've had for the past 6-7years!
