Whether or not the current owner is insuring it correctly, not changing the log is just encouraging the next owner to not bother.
They buy a 2.0 logged as a 1.4 and think, sod it, insure as a 1.4 = wrong

its wrong. End of.
The likelyhood of getting caught doesnt make it less illegal.

my point is my mate registerd it as a 2ltr.but insured it as a 1.4.
you've either got to keep it all as a 1.4 or register and insure it as a 2ltr.
and whats all this big fuss about it being illegal? who cares? each to there own.im not botherd what he does apart from if he had it registerd as a 2ltr but insured as a 1.4 and old bill were behind and checked it they would no straight away.if its down as a 2ltr on both no probs and the same as if he kept it all 1.4 they'd be none the wiser unless he's in 3 digit numbers lol

what a dick end im 20 and bought a nova REGESTERED as an xe so i could tax/insure it leagally, if it is insured as a 2.0 it would cost u way more than the 60 quid tax you bell end, get a grip, insure it properly, i know what i would do if you hit me in an illegal car

I'd learn how to sell "Registered" properly first.
And im guessing he means it will cost £60 extra not it costs £60.
And im sure your the idiot who posted himself on youtube tearing around a shop carpark?
So its ok to break some rules but not others?

Least iv insured it as a redtop theres loads of ppl that havnt!
Aye £60 is all well and good but when it come to selling the thing then how much am i going to lose? half the appel of a redtop corsa is cheap insurance!

Erm, no it isn't. People buy it to have a big engine, in a small car. Someone that buys a 2.0 Corsa, that insures it as a 1.4 or whatever to get cheap insurance is a twat.
Edit to add; Surely a modified Corsa is generally worth the same (or thereabouts) than a non-modified example. So even though you might have left it declared as a 1.4, its still 2.0 Corsa that will only appeal to someone that wants it.

its worse having it on one and not the other than not having it at all. if it was down as a 1.4 and insured as a 1.4 and old bill are driving behind you and do a check all comes up ok. if it comes as a 2ltr but with 1.4 insurence you fooked.
And if they pull you and know what they're doing, they'll know it's not the standard engine and you'll have neither tax nor insurance.
I appreciate that you're less likely to be pulled if the PNC and MID tally but really, there's still opportunity to be caught for it.

So the insurance would be OK but you're still liable for the outstanding tax.

i didnt say the tax would be sixty at any point, what tax is 60 quid i meant for the sake of an extra 60 quid,
and the vid of me in a car park was over a year ago in an empty car park with a FULLY INSURED AND TAXED VEHICLE so if i hit any1 they could claim

Have a crash in a supermarket car Park and see if your insurance will pay out
Driving like a dick in a car park, is worse than not paying tax in any case

How do you tax it if its insured as a 2L? The paperwork wont match up & the guy in the Post office will refuse it surely?

I dont get why you are saying it will be harder to sell?
If I was looking at cars with engine conversions, then I would be looking at ones done properly, fully declared is one thing I would be looking at. Im sure other people are the same, they see 'still 1.2/1.4/etc on logbook' and think what other corners have been skipped
