Also, who the fook is Igor Biscan, according to those figures he hasn't been sold, so is he still there collecting a pay cheque?

Leivacost something like £5m, was reported everywhere at the time (if I wasnt lazy Id go and find the SSN and BBC articles) which is why Im saying the figures are so out.

Diao and Diuof were two of Houlliers stupid signings (he made many) - signed due to a good WC for Senegal in instead of Anelka

Biscan has well gone, 4yrs ago infact Played 72 times for us, and 15 for Croatia, now captain of Dinamo Zagreb (according to Wiki). He was only ever a squad player, and wasnt that bad of one tbh.

To avoid looking stupid you really should watch players before just pulling random names from a list.

You cant question Garcia's importance for us - scored the winning goal against Juventus in QF, then winning goal against Chavski in SF in 2005. Was signed for a pittance at around £4m (not the £6m they are saying) IIRC and sold for a profit.

Cavalieri was signed for next to nothing as our No2 keeper, and has looked solid when he has played. Insua is a youngster, Argentinian intl LB and looks like he will make the step up to first team level on a full time basis - imo one of (if not our best) prospect coming through.

Neither are hardly what you can call a questionable buy just because you dont have a fucking clue who they are.

Joesimi wasnt good enough, but was bought as cover at RB and cost something like £2m - then swapped for Kromkamp who had cost PSV £5.5m 6 months earlier. Neither were good enough, both were bought to a budget and moved on for a profit.

Same goes for Gonzalez - and he cost no where near the £4.5m they mention. BTW - you see him score two goals against Barca the other day?! Is well suited to the Spanish league and has shown his quality there before - hence how we got decent money for him.

At the end of the day, although the figures are vastly wrong, I wont question that we have wasted a huge amount of money over the years. Particularly Houlliers latter years where we just needed a few top names and he signed a lot of crap.

What you do have to consider though, and this is more for the Rafa reign, is that he hasnt exactly had the money all in one go to go and spend on 9 or 10 £20m players. He has had a budget each summer and had to spend it building a squad first of all - hence the large number of players bought and sold as we traded up.

He is now in a position where he has a good squad (Houllier got to a similar position) and just needs to add those few high class players each window rather than a load of squad players. So the next few seasons (if he is here that long) is what he should be judged on transfer wise.

i dont think i look stupid, i think you have to question so many of liverpools signings since the premier league began seeing as they have spent nearly as much as united but have so little to show in comparison. sure a lot of them might be decent players, but decent players aren't good enough if they want to be genuine challengers year in year out.

You didnt read my last few paragraphs obviously...

United had the home grown (so didnt need to buy) base which they built their last 10+ yrs success already intact. Fergie suplimented these with buying top talent and not further squad players (at least not in great numbers).

We didnt really have this base. Granted Houllier probably had something great to build on, and did to some degree, then lost the plot and bought some shocking players.

Now since Rafa has come in, we had fuck all base (thanks to Houllier) to build on other than Carra and Gerrard. He has had a limited budget (and it was limited, as he didnt get a pot of £200m in one go) to build a squad firstly, and then secondly add the few bits of quality to push us up there.

He is just starting that second part, having built his base he has added the likes of Torres and Mascherano - and look where we are now, pushing for the league more than we have in the last 10yrs. If he can keep doing the same then his transfers will not be questioned, if he loses it and acts like Houllier then they will be.

I was straight to the point so I didnt leave you feeling I had given you a wishywashy answer.

2/10 for a poor explanation for the decision to give me 7/10 for an obvious 9 if not 10/10.
