Lip = Real designer fashion
Rolex = 'Look at me!'

I wouldn't say a Rolex was 'look at me' infact I think their designs are quite understated, Brietling's on the other hand are a bit in your face especially the Bentley range

Rolex make really good watches and even say themselves that you pay for the whole brand.
I'd never heard of lip before, a quick look they seem to be just cheap 'fashion' watches as you say.
People buy them for different things, i'd never buy a fashion watch.

I keep promising myself a TAG f1 Chrono as an everyday watch, but keep finding something else to buy instead.

I bought myself a Rolex GMT Master II (Red and Blue one) last year. It was second hand but is in as new condition and with papers etc.
This year I am eyeing up a Rolex Submariner with black bezel.
I love the Rolex range and they are far from flashy...

Not sure if I prefer the black or silver one yet.
Thoughts?
How much is it in black?

Flashy?
maybe not.
ostentatious?
Definitely.
Rolex have always fixed their prices high (badly) in order to give a false sense of 'value' to the people who buy them.
Hence the mass market Rolex fakes....put an ETA movement in a Rolex fake and lets face it not many people will tell the difference to the real one...

Wouldn touch a Tag with a barge pole tbh, they look nice but they are owned by SWATCH so that goes to show the sort of quality in the movements etc

ok thats like saying you would never own certain supercars because of there manufacturers are actually owned by a lesser brand

Tag being owned by swatch is a terrible reason, go and have a look at who else they own, i've had personal experience of a few of their brands and know the quality.
Most tags aren't worth the prices they command but they aren't bad watches, certainly not because of who owns them.
Going back to the first page, you're looking at cheap copy's influenced by omega, guess who owns omega

I agree... but I would notice the difference and ultimately that is what counts.

surely the main difference between a fake and a real one is the way the hands move?
I saw some shocking fakes on my travels of all brands, you could tell a mile off that it was a cheap £5 watch branded to look like 'whomever'.

If there's a fast enough movement inside it the hands will move the same, can normally spot them a mile away though.
