are you kidding?

evo 5 out of 5 car, comments are + everything -nothing
top gear car of the year on release
2001, What Car Used Sports Car Of The Year
2004, What Car Best Used Sporting Car of the Year Under £10k
Future classic - fifth gear - link
Top gear had a future classic feature a few month ago.

The ford puma is a massively under-rated car, bland is not something I would use to describe the car. However I don't mind that view for various reasons.

Jr asked for a Fun Car, cheap to insure, under 5k - A puma shouldn't be completely disregarded by someone who enjoys driving, just because it isn't the "normal" choice.

all my personal opinion obviously

not saying it isnt the normal choice etc... etc...

compared the the rest of the cars listed though he would be a fool to pay 3k for a tidy puma when tidy 172's can be had for that money, or an ITR DC2 for not much more money.

Ford Pumas can be had for £1k nowadays and with a 5k budget i wouldnt be looking at them.
However a FRP would be an option for that kind of money.

How about a Pulsar Gti-R??

you won't get a FRP for less than 5k, unless its a 100k example

if you're happy happy with a renault the 172 looks like a brilliant buy. After owning french cars, I personally didn't fancy a 172, I fancied a integra but couldn't find one with the age / mileage I wanted for 5k. I was pretty much in the same choice as you 9 month ago, went for the puma, cheap to insure, run and huge fun.

Quick search found this....
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/classifieds/975283.htm

Well under budget.Below average miles with full SH so i see no problem with mileage.

Or this which could be had for £5k.

should have added

1) this car needs to be left in south london for work (cosworth will go missing in about .3 seconds)

2) needs to do 50 miles a day, so not do 15mpg

3) actully be able to insure it, ie not an evo 5

Zetec S?

Great fun to drive, very chuckable, comfy, decent MPG, creature comforts, still a new car.

I do 500 miles a week in mine and touch wood no problems.

How about the nice diesel Corsa that you've already got, until you've saved up for a nice RS500 and then keep that in the garage for fun etc and still drive the Corsa to work?
