Get the 1.8 SXi+, better equipped imho apart from fancy alloys & mirrors.

For the money, a Clio sport or EK Civic VTi would both be much better cars. EK being the better of the 2

This is true Half leather ftw You can always get the mirrors and wheels from the SRi if you wanted them too.

Depends what you are looking for.
Apart from the clio being a second quicker to 60 i'd rather have the corsa, don't know much about civics to compare.

I assume as hes going for the 1.8 SRi hes after something sporty. Im not a fan of clios but compared to a 1.8 corsa i do very much prefer them.
The civics build quality exceeds that of the clio, they handle far better too as they have independant rear suspension. They are just as fast but the added novelty of the vtec makes them feel 100x faster than what they really are. My next car will probably be an EK civic VTi. AEM intake and tubular manifoldwith tein street suspension makes an awesome B road car that is extremely hard to beat.

mine comes on cam at abour 3.5k and should pull round to about 7200, feels as quick as a ctr let alone a vti

I'd love to find a low mileage one in a decent colour. Really do love the Corsa C!
My 1.4 was nippy and seemed quicker than the 1.6 pug i have now.

Could just drop a 2.2 vtec in there with 225bhp and pop a cap in your clios ass then. Plus the VTi's turbo very easily too with minimal outlay. My mates in the process of building one that wont owe him more than £3000 in mods when done and will have about 350bhp.
I think all the 2.0 hatches are as fast as eachother really, the VTi will stick with a CTR to about 100mph but after that just drop off whereas the CTR will pull to about 145.
The difference is the hondas handle slightly better and dont break even after hundreds of thousands of miles of 8000rpm abuse.

i loved my old one, but sold it on to a lad from Reading last year....
was pretty nippy i thought for a little car, and far more comftable and smooth than the corsa B's
as standard they return a reasonable mpg (35-40ish),
0-60 in 8. something
insurance group 9

dont turn your nose up at the 1.7cdti group insurance 5 or 6 plenty of mpg and cheap tax.
they are a very nice car i rate them high.
btw the civic will cost a bomb to insure compaired to the lil corsa.

Looks nice that sam
I still dont think i could trust a clio tbh and honda civics im not really a fan of.
Was also looking into the astras 1.9 cdti but i think it maybe too big of a car for what i use it for.

I agree - but unfortunately all the 1.7 CDTi's come with quite high miles now, especially as they were only made for a short time. The 1.8 was used in the SXi+ right up until they stopped making the C!
I've also seen a 1.7CDTi Design Parkers.co.uk don't have it listed, but I ran it through an insurance quotes and it is real

I drove two dblias tunned 1.8's, both impressed me alot. It was a case of inlet manifold, cam's and full manifold back exhaust. Ok it costs a few pennies but was worth it, OJC will agree about 1 of them from reading which passed his corsa vxr quite easily
