yes but you display a level of intelligence when it comes to computers so I assume someone like yourself could get to grips with it easily and realise what aload of wank Windows is.

I'm a software developer and used to be in systems support.. I know MS stuff like the back of my hand anything with Linux makes me feel like a retard because I dont instinctively know what to do so I get angry at my self lol the computer would just end up getting thrown accross the workshop.

Linux is for GEEKS!
Not tried yet, I'm still yet to find some decent evidence of the EnGenius ECO-2610 working over long distance.

Couldn't you get VM with a linux distro going on your home system so you can get to grips with it before installing it?
I'm guessing there isn't internet at your workshop? if there is, see if someone has it and wouldn't mind you chipping in to use it?

There is a radio station that use the phone line in my workshop for their ADSL, they wont let me use the WIFI as they dont get enough bandwidth on the upstream (they stream to the transmitter), I could be a cunt and take over the line but I dont want to have to pay for a phone line I'd rather lay out £200-250 in one lump and have free wifi.

Just trying to find suitable masts now, the workshop end willl be a mast on top of a telegraph pole that is already covered by a tree so it will be poking out the top but need to find a 20ft+ mast lol

Just spent a bit of money
I bought the Engenius EOC-2610 (just one for the moment) a high gain omni directional antenna (6foot), a high gain yagi (directional) and a 500mW high power USB WIFI adaptor..
I'm going to setup the EOC-2610 and omni antenna at home on a 15-20 foot mast then use the 500mW USB, yagi and laptop to experiment before I part with the cash for another EN-2610 and massive mast.

Which Yagi and USB adaptor did you go for? You know what throughput you're likely to achieve between the house and shop?
Keep this updated though as it's pretty

Its a 20dbi yagi and an unbranded version of the Alfa 500mW USB adaptor.
Not sure on throughput but anything more than 1mb will be better than what I could potentially get on ADSL there.
I will take some photos of the omni when its mounted Toying with a 1watt amp too but I'd probably get reported as it will flood everyones WIFI Although the omni antenna has a massive dead spot directly under neath so it shouldnt affect my neighbours

Dont want to sound silly, But if someone in or around the line of the waves has wifi or something similar in use, Wont this effect the signal of your system?
