taken from ccuk:

took the oil cooler off: see the damage...

managed to sort the air filter > turbo pipework, no DV recirc pipe inlet as it can just dump to the atmosphere for the time being, if i get all anal i'll sort that out when i have more time. tightened up all the boost pipes and fitted the DV and vacuum pipe (note still no proper t piece but atleast the car will run, and hopefully drive on minimal boost until a new one turns up)

as you can see, didnt get round to fitting the remote filter head, i removed the thermostatic sandwich plate just so i can bolt the filter up and crank over, but then the question of what pipe goes in what hole... (as one is in, and one is out) so after a call to Dave (JDT - sprint) he said, aha! just unplug the coil pack and turn it over, you'll see what pipe shoots oil out then.... but no battery power so this will wait til tomorrow.

Thanks!

sent my bumper away a few weeks back to have the irmscher splitter smoothed in, and to be painted...

No luck with getting transport to collect bumper....

So i had a cunning plan!

Went to see mr ashford vauxhall spares, who had a scrap silver facelift bumper, although it was fooked it waz also free!

Gave it a quick wash and fitted it... Ta da!!

Looks lush huh?! Bit ratty :-P

Also may have fixed the boost issue, one of tbe clamps had a dodgy thread so i replaced it... Not driven yet so will let you know

update time...

went to Warren's last night, did and oil and filter change, well chuffed, the bosch oil filter was like £3 from Euro Car Parts so did that....

then swapped over lower arms, Warren Kindly donated his lower arms complete with powerflex bushes for my standard items once the arm was in place we had to fit the hub, this meant pulling down on the lower arm, Warren not being a man known for his strength, had to use his entire body weight to pull it low enough...

also, for all the million people who pm me explaining on how they are planning a homebrew conversion, this is where the oil feed for the turbo is taken from... the oil pressure switch, which is located on the back of the block.

two random pictures, see my new fmic and oil cooler looking happy its all about the stealth

so... the other update with regards to this boosting issue.... i purchased a nice new michelin foot pump from halfords, warren luckily had a nice long piece of vacuum pipe, and thanks to Dave's pressure test theory, we ran the vacuum pipe off the actuator (with a t piece in to adjust pressure) into (what i can only think of as a blow up dingy fitting) into the foot pump... and guess what...

it holds pressure, and doesnt leak...

but when in operation on the wastegate, when you run pressure and it opens, the actuator rod flexes a bit, and so does the bracket and the movement is very edgy, and when it opens it doesnt open the wastegate fully.... personally I'm still in favour of spraying some spray grease in there... anyway, we slackened the actuator right off, so in theory it would run naff all boost and it looked like it worked a lot better. so went for a drive!

the car now makes 2 psi of boost

but in all seriousness the car drives very well, no edgy boost or anything.... so drive home with a whole 2 psi... will wind it back up at the weekend but maybe to somehwere in between...

any other ideas?!

also followed this yesterday - yummee!

Some more random photos I've been taking of brakes and bits I've been collecting for the past two months:

Firstly ordered Calipers, Disks, and Pads:

then, after some very careful measurements these arrived:

mounted to disks:

painted the hubs:

oil arrived:

after yet more ultra important measurements, we have brackets!

New Pagid rear disks and pads: Can see the HEL braided lines too

last night...

om nom nom, fitted and bled

that is all...
