honestly doyle. if you want to get involved with things. get involved. dont let people on the net put you off and take the piss. yeah ive taken the piss so that includes whatever ive said.

the instructions if you follow then in the haynes will get the job done. people should always support others that want to have a go. say someone off here lives near you that could come give you a hand or something?

You can only learn by giving things a go, OK if it goes wrong it can cost alot of money but if you take your time and follow the instructions there is no reason you cant do it yourself.

Take your time, mark it up, make sure its tentioned right & all nuts & bolts are set to correct torque, turn it by hand before firing it up....do all that & you will get on fine!!

Give it a go, Its a good learning curve. 1st one I done was a tooth out & just caughed, chugged & cut out....took ages to work out what was wrong!!

Ditto!

The rollers and tensioner are more likely to fail than the belt..

If the cooling system has been run on pure water most of its life the pump will be fudged too..

8v Vaux engines are safe engines so you can't really go wrong, 16v on the other hand aren't and it could go wrong, badly.
