The one with the straight cover is the X20XEV, it looks about the same as an X18XE, kind of like how X14XE and X16XE look about the same with the cover taken off.
So wtf does a x20xe look like ??  I have a Z22XE in my omega and it looks the same as the x20xev (execpt mine has no ht leads etc)
However we have all agreeed that an 8v is not a red top.

Apparently the X20XE looks like a redtop but it's a blacktop as such. The first pic I posted but not Opel.

yeh. people always think its a x20 or x18 or whatever as it looks like one but its a c18xe. crap engine anyway like all vauxhall engines that start with an x in the code.

just been bak on blower to him n he sez if i ring again he will let ma mates tyres down but he did say even tho there is a risk of him blowin his lump coz its got no oil in it would be worth it to teech u lot a lesson in engine performance and tuning

First of all your mate needs to get a grip and not let someone's tyres down because of what people on the internet are saying 
Secondly, we're not doubting the performance and tuning at all, just saying that they did not make an engine with 8 valves that is commonly known as a redtop. All we are interested in is what his engine code is. If it's C20XE then he has 16 valves and has been misinformed, if it is a C20NE/SEH then it has 8v and he is correct, but incorrect in calling it a redtop.
