I dont think either club have the money to put towards getting the fifa compliant and large enough to house games.

Are you taking the piss? We have more money than Liverpool and that isn't a joke.

There was a suggestion a few months back that Portman Road would be enlarged when we got into the Premiership.

But seeing as it's taking a while, I think that was put on the back burner.

Portman Road holds 30,300 BTW.

Yeah I think they have listed more so their is a choice when the people come and visit.

Wonder if the Olympic stadium will get it over Emirates?! How many is it meant to hold?

25,000! But presumably once they remove the runnign track then a few more.

SSN suggested Emirates and Spurs over that as they can both guaranteed hold Semi-Finals as well

40k for first/2nd round

60k for quarters and semi's

80k for the final

Old Trafford will have one semi final. I guess they'll want the other in London so will be yours I guess.

Saying that, by 2018 the Emirates wont be anything special, will be a few stadiums with larger capacities and newer.

I wonder if Old Trafford will get another tier on the South Stand sometime before then. It'd take it up to a similar height as the East and West stands. Would prob take it up to around 90,000 capacity too. Looks like there is the scope for doing it like they have with the other stands!

Actually all the suites and main cameras are on that side so maybe thats why they have't done it because it'd mean messing around with all that

You havent done it because of the train track behind the stand and it would over hang, isnt it?

Yeah its right at the back of whats there at the moment. People have built over railway lines before but it certainly adds a complication. Thats if they would let them do it

Tesco did it somewhere - the tunnel did collapse when they were backfilling over it though

I dont think it would be too much of an issue for you, just would have to redirect it somewhat.

Do you sell out every game currently?

I'm not sure. Must be close to doing. Its usually between 72,000 and 74,000 odd when ever I've been.

I went to a Carling Cup match in the early rounds against Wolves and there was only about 50,000 there

Dont know if getting close to the 75,000 capacity is enough to justify it. The problem is most of the spare seats are usually one on their own and most people go in at least 2's.

We aren't allowed unless we buy the line and have it relocated.

Theres talk of filling in the other two corners, either side of the South Stand and erecting more quandrants.

Is their point though if you dont fill it week in week out currently?

I know you fill it for bigger games, but do you fill it often enough to cover the (huge) costs of expanding again?

Genuine questions as I dont know how many you do sell out for.

I dont know, I guess there will be someone that keeps looking at this and weighing it up to see if it makes economic sense. Cant of done so far or they'd of done it.

Just thought I'd speculate a bit

Dont see why they'd have to buy the line - buy the land on the other side and bridge over it. Something to do with airspace rights, thats how Tesco got round it!

I've never known it be below 55-60k when I've been to Carling Cup games.

Everything else ranges between 73-75k.

Edit - It sells out regularly, mainly depends on the opposition.

Capacity 76,212

PL
Birmingham - 75,062
Arsenal - 75,095
City - 75,066
Sunderland - 75,114
Bolton - 75,103
Blackburn - 74,658
Everton - 75,163

Carling
Wolves - 51,160

CL
Wolfsberg - 74,037
CSKA - 73,718
Besiktas - 74,242

Much higher than I thought tbh, but saying that most of those home PL games are either against local sides or one with good travelling support. Will be interesting to see the likes of Hull, Pompey, etc. attendances.

I think also that people assume OT sells out every week. So the armchair brigade dont bother trying to get tickets. I suspect if it was made bigger they'd be more inclined to try.
