threads like this are the reason why nobody who owns a vauxhall should ever comment that they think their car is fast or is quicker than something else.

I have a mate who's done this 5 times Then he got an evo 7 and says he'll never go back to a subaru.

5 times??

1- classic wrx uk - on track = dead car
2- classic sti type r import - country lanes + trees = dead car
3- classic v-limited import - pushed too hard on island, mounted kerb hit wall = repaired damage but was never same again
4- same car as above - hit kerb again and rolled onto roof = dead car
5- catalunya - involved police in a undercover bmw which ended up nasty.

He's not proud and these wernt 15k scoobys just shells that he used to give his 450 bhp engine some abuse.

That's not an STI for a kick off

And OJC is right Scoobies handle shit really in the grand scope of things but the grip is such a big part of the driving experience..which i like

I think people are getting mixed up between handling and grip again, corsas have shit handling but with some wide tyres and different suspension can grip quite well.

i disagree, i find them very communicative and responsive. Just get a bit flimsy and i might add scary the faster you go

Firstly, that's an Impreza WRX not an STi. Let's atleast get the basics right.

I'm intrigued by the people saying that Imprezas don't handle. The new age, full fat hatch back versions perhaps. But the classics? They were lauded as superb handling cars in their day. A 1998 Impreza STi Type-R remains, to this day, the only car I've got out of after having a backroad blast actually laughing out loud. Superb, devastating piece of kit.

The comparisons to a corsa with a powerful engine are certainly valid with regards to straight line go - as the vid demonstrates. But that's it.

Exactly. i can only imagine what a coupe can do in the right hands. there all these comments from people bitching about them and they drive fwd cars. come again? all i can say is unless youve been out in an impreza with the right suspension mods and in the correct capable hands. dont knock it til youve tried it because yes, they are devastating and will give more cars a run for their money then you think.

so fcuking what if you beat an old gaffer in a wrx in your turbo corsa or whatever, he was probably on his way to collect his pension.
