All Crail Raceway is requesting, is that those of you attending with over 10 cars give them notification in advance so they can allocate some space. They do not need exact numbers or names, similary if you are going with 5 or so cars, they don't need to know.

What they are simply trying to avoid is clubs turning up with an army of 20 cars only to find all the space on the grass area has been taken. If they know roughly what to expect in advance, they can endevour to accomodate everybody.

So, a week or so before the 9th, drop them a quick e.mail with a rough guesstimate of numbers.

That's all.

Cheers

We've had a wee change to the classes this year:

Up to 2500cc normally aspirated

Up to 2500cc forced induction inc nitrous

Over 2500cc unlimited inc normally aspirated and forced induction

Granted this won't please everybody but unfortunately we're restricted to three classes only and after last year, it was deemed better to raise it from 2000cc to 2500cc as this now puts the likes of the Vectra V6's into the same class as say a 1600cc Corsa GSi... plus it opens the forced induction class right up, yes that means Corsa VXR's are in beside the Nova turbo boys but hey, that's what the Visa card is for.

Unfortunately, being restricted to three classes only there will always be those who deem it unfair...

But then is it fair to run a 1600 16v on TB's with cams etc etc against a standard Vectra V6, which will be slower than a week in jail. Similary, an Astra GTE 16v should run the quarter in around 15secs, probably very similar to a tuned 1400 or 1600 Corsa.

Granted yes, the 2.0 turbo boys will in theory dominate again this year, however what's stopping a 300bhp Corsa VXR joining the party, or an XE power Corsa with nitrous. On that basis, the standard Astra VXR may not stand a chance.

We could make hundreds of classes but somebody in the 1600 16v class would still point out that his 1600 16v is standard but chummy beside him has a K&N on his and doesn't weigh 20st... so how is that fair.

Bear in mind it was also said running a A plate Nova with a standard XE against a Monaro and a mapped Vectra VXR wasn't fair...

Nova won though...

Good effort!

You don't need to go to Crail, you can drop Charlie an e.mail at charlie@crailraceway.co.uk and let her know roughly how many cars you guys are attending with and they will allocate a suitable space on the grass.

If you do have such a large number, it would be worth trying to be there pretty sharp. The gates open at 9am and the drift and quarter mile action starts at 10am.

Cheers
