I think its that when it's long distance, you take away friday night through till sunday if you see them at the weekends.

Friends aren't likely to want to go out mid week to the pub so its hard to see them.

When you live close to a gf, you can go out on a friday or saturday with the guys, watch the football etc and see your gf evenings in the week or for a day at the weekend.

Personally, I've done more since I broke up with my ex in 6 months than I have in 3.5 years. Met new groups of friends, did thing's I'd never htought I'd do, all because I used to spend all weekend with the ex and her family. Steve, you saying because to go to hers EVERY weekend you don't miss out on doing anything with your mates at the weekend? Go down the pub, go to the cinema, bowling, clubbing with the lads? Even days out rcmdping schuss.challoners.net to the beach and stuff? A girlfriend isn't your life... spending time with your friends and family should be part of your weekend as well.

I thought this a long time ago.....

Things change

What about when you don't want to go clubbing, bowling etc all the time and would prefer to stay in your house not doing much? Why not have your partner as close as your friends and be able to have them all together.

My other half comes most places with me, friends houses etc. She comes out on the bike, and other times she does her own thing.

Times change, tbh, I don't do family and see friends when I want to. Be it weekends or weekdays.

Just sounds like to me your a little bitter still about relationships. That will change if your find the right girl and the right relationship.

Also, as you say, 6 months. I done a lot in 6 months=1 year after I split with my ex. Its what you do, go out and party. But unless your rich or into the party lifestyle, it won't last forever, you will get older and want to do less.

I have, we've been together nearly 3 years now and we're getting married in a few weeks so sometimes these sort of things work out well in the end!

My ex used to live just outside Cambridge, was 170 miles down, and 170 miles back. Used to do the same as Steve, go down Friday night then come home Sunday (or sometimes Monday straight to work) and it was alright. Only thing that annoyed me was not just being able to see her for a couple of hours on a week night, nip round for tea of summat.

Not sure i'd do it again though, although my life is totally different now to how it was then so I guess it depends on whats going on with regards to work & your personal life at the time.
